The waters of this sheltered cove along the State Park are spectacular. The powder white sand is so relaxing. It is really hot and in direct sunlight all day too. The waters are so light blue and clear for snorkeling. The quality of the snorkeling was stellar for such easy access. Saw a turtle up close for a long time as he posed and floated along the rocks right in the middle of the water/reef area.

So much fun. Wife likes to enjoy the beach, which she thoroughly enjoyed as well. Not crowded, but busy for a weekday, but plenty of space for all.

beautiful beach, popular with tourists and locals alike, with fun for everyone - sunbathers, swimmers, boogie boarders and snorkelers. Easy parking tho maybe a bit of a walk if you have to park far up the road. Stunning beach and great snorkeling. No food or drink or shade, so bring your own. Bathrooms at the parking lot.

Ok so there are many catagories for Hawaii Beaches and this is one of my top swimming and sunning beaches, Parking is easy, there are bathroom's and showers and the sand is soft and white. Bring your blanket and you can spend the whole day sunning and swimming in this Crystal clear water, mostly pretty calm...sometimes it is a good beach to boogie board at when the waves pick up usually the winter months, however this is a popular beach with the locals and gets very busy on weekends and it is closed on Wednesdays. No snorkeling here.

We have been on numerous cruises with Royal Caribbean with stops in Key West, Bahamas, Haiti, St. Thomas, St. Martin, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, mmmm I think that's it. :) Kua Bay is definitely one of the top, if not the most beautiful. The water is a light blue close to shore then turns into a deeper blue farther out. Crystal clear and no seaweed of any kind. If you haven't been to Hawaii the water is not as warm as the Caribbean. Probably about 10 degrees cooler. Nice once you get in though. We also visited Hapuna Beach, which is also North of Kona, but we liked the sand better on Kua Bay. It's not a huge beach, but we didn't feel crowded either. Gates open at 9am so get there early. :)

My husband and I just heard of this place a couple of days ago from a local, so we figured we'd check it out. When we pulled up our jaws dropped, 'cause the water was so crystal-clear blue and the sand so powdery white. Water was a little choppy, but that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves!
