“Great luau!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We have been to alot of luaus, and this is definitely a nice one - it is a beautiful setting looking out over the bay and back towards town. The entertainment is good - not too theatrical, very nice. Food was standard luau fare. You have to do a luau when you go to hawaii - it is part of our family tradition - and we have tried them all, from the very expensive, to the not-so-expensive, and this is a nice middle of the road option. We went on Thanksgiving, and it was great, except it did rain for part of the time. Also, we paid extra to get preferential seating. In hindsight I wish we hadn't done this, as it positioned us right in front of the speakers, which were way too loud for guests at our table. Overall, staff, entertainers, bartenders, etc. were all pleasant, and it was a great experience!

“The food was fair, the activities good, the show was a lot of fun”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We booked this Luau for a very special Christmas Eve dinner - our first ever away from home. Though I booked the meal reservation for 630pm I didn't realize that you really should be there extra early to take full advantage of all the activites (charcoal tatooing (?), palm leaf weaving, hula dance lessons, etc) and the official photographer was no longer around when we arrived. Though the food was fair at best, it certainly was plentiful and getting a shell lei was a nice touch (though you could purchase a real flower one as well). The waterfront location was absolutely wonderful and the show was quite good as well. I very much enjoyed how they weaved traditions from all Polynesian cultures into their show, not just Hawaiian. I would recommend this activity but just don't get your hopes too too high.

“Nice, local, not overly glossy Luau.”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We wanted to take our eight year-old daughter to her first Luau, and wanted to keep it a little simpler than some of the ones that we had been to that were part of the giant hotel chains. This one fit the bill for us perfectly. Before the dinner and show, there was a flurry of pre-luau activities, including some temporary tattoos, coconut frond weaving, and hula lessons. The flame twirler even gave a brief lesson. My only complaint was that this part of the evening was too short! We would have liked to had more time to do each of the activities instead of picking and choosing. The dinner and drinks were usual Luau fare, with the added bonus of provided information on Gluten-Free and other allergy menu choices. This was a new provision that just started the night of our dinner. Especially good were the salad choices and the variety of meat - one each of chicken, pork, beef and fish. Our picky eater had some trouble finding her kind of food, but had plenty to choose from and try new. The bar offered a good variety of strong drinks to complement the weaker self-serve mai-tais. Most importantly, though, for our daughter, was the dancing. The show was complete and fun, done with humor and beauty. The performers were talented and professional without taking themselves too seriously. We had a good time.

The luau on Christmas day cost extra. It was puring rain and outside and they did not cancel the event. There is no place to sit under anything so their solution was to give us towels to put over our heads. The show was mediocre as well as the food. We could not get our money back or cancel. If you book this luau and it rains, you are out of luck.

“Great First Lu'au”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

This was our first Lu'au and we had the best time. The dancing was amazing. The food was great and all you can eat. There were activities before the show - we took the hula class. We had a three year old with us and she loved it. The entertainment was funny and interactive. Would attend again!
