“All you need for a great Kona city adventure!”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

You'll love this place, especially if you're searching for some slightly more touristy attractions. There are some nice churches nearby, lots of little shops and restaurants, and of course you can paddle board, swim, snorkel, ect. Worth spending a day or even an afternoon there! Remember your swimsuit! The water is very tempting...

“People watching”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

This is the place to go. Locals bring their kids to swim, the paddling club launches from the beach, cruise ship passengers disembark (when the ships are in), tourists wander up and down, cars cruise Ali'i Drive, lots of restaurants and tourist shops close by. There is always something or someone to watch, or be watched. I love this place.

“spend awhile taking in the action”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

We stayed at The King Kamehameha adjacent to the pier. Enjoyed having a coffee/tea/ice-cream while people watching etc on the pier. Saw a few guys catch fish, watched boats come and go, watched a pod of dolphins come into the bay.... later snorkeling out to where they were.... fantastic experience. It seems to be a gathering point for locals at weekends. On the Luau nights held in the grounds of the King Kamehameha, quite a people would gather on the pier to watch.

“The Hub of Local Events”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

Come down during the canoe races or other events. It's the start/finish of the Ironman ocean swim and close to the finish line. Local vendors will rent you as stand up paddle board (SUP) and you can get out on the water of Kailus Bay!
