We ate in this harbor three times because of it being at such a convenient location and a nice place to relax. I recommend eating here at sunset as the view is beautiful, (especially from the restaurant with the high balcony).

All the fishing charters, snorkel, diving, and submarine tours leave from here. There is a nice little beach as we'll. the marina has a dive shop, convenience store and bait shop.

This harbor is about 3 miles from Kailua Kona on the Big Island. Whale watching cruises are offered by a number of companies departing from the harbor. Whales are seen in Hawaii waters from December to April following their migration from Alaska and other areas to the north.

If you are boating in, this would be a good place to anchor. It isn't far from Kailua-Kona, so it is a good location. Be sure to walk across the parking lot to see Kaloko-Honokohau archaeological site.

Even if you aren't going out fishing, visit the harbor if you are visiting Kona. Lots of friendly people, food to eat, fresh catches to ogle. We just have coffee at Bite Me and wander around talking to fishermen.
