“See the original Hawaii here”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

Visited the Kimura store and some of the stores/galleries here for some authentic Hawaii. Blue Sky Coffee plantation and store is on the way. A much better experience than expected.

“Head up the Hill from Kona”
Reviewed December 18, 2012

Take a short drive up the hillside from bustling Kona and you find a little village of quaint galleries, coffee plantations and a few restaurants. The pace is super slow. Once there you get great views of ocean and the city. We found a great place to eat, the Holualoa Cafe, right next to a coffee shop. I wrote a review about the cafe.

The main reason I went there was to find out more about a guy who makes ukeleles. Found his little shop and spoke with him for about an hour. Sam Rosen offers classes on how to make your own uke. The least time it would take is about 10 days, so plan
ahead. It's called Holualoa Ukulele Gallery. All in all, it's well worth the visit.

Aloha

“charming”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

cute little roadside town with great smoothies at the Holuakoa Cafe. Everyone was outside getting ready for the christmas light show that evening. Fun to stop and have a chat with folks. Lovely pottery shops.

“Interesting Community”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

This is a nice little community of various artist's and craftsmans' shops as well as a general store, a hotel, etc. It made a nice day trip from Kona to spend a couple relaxing hours
