I guess I expected a little more, you can't see it up close. it would be disrespectful since it is a sacred/religious site. There are some status that would have been neat to see.

Thank Julie W

Ahuena Heiau is where the King Kamehameha I died almost 200 years ago. It is a sacred place for Hawaiian natives. Right now all you see is a 2/3 scale replica where the Ahuena Heiau once was.

If you walk around the Marriot hotel toward the beach, you would see the Aheuna Heiau in a distance. The access to the replica is blocked by the Luau restaurant.

It is nice to stop by if you are in the area, but not worth the trouble as a destination because there is not much to see.

I walked here from my hotel (kona seaside). It was a typical heiau. Well kept. But it was the pictures I took with the giant ocean liner parked in the distance behind it that was awesome. Ok, it was all the beatiful girls in bikinis sun tanning on the beach as you walked to the heiau that made it a even more awesome.

Thank Troy H
