Since I have young children I have not hiked around in the park to the get to the beach but you can also access it via the nearby marina. It's a beautiful sandy beach (finer grain sand than others in nearby Kailua-Kona) and it's not crowded. There seems to be many shady spots under trees and there's a perfect breeze. The water and sand are perfect for little ones.

Definitely take the Ranger talks - very informative and will definitely add to your overall Hawaiian experience.

This is a magical place! We saw many turtles feeding on the limu on the rocks. Did not get a chance to snorkel this place, but will for sure next time I am here. The access through the boat harbor is very easy.

Easy walk, friendly staff, clean, and very informative. Take a walk back in time. As you continue your walk around make sure you stop to enjoy the Honu and even the occasional Hawaiian Monk Seal.

Close to the Kona airport , a well maintained beautiful park with picnic areas. If you are handicapped or for any reason you can not walk, ask at the information desk for driving directions to the beach. The place is a bit hidden and most of the time we were alone there watching the turtles sun bade.A great place to relax.
