Had an amazing morning out with the crew at Dolphins Discoveries. Captain Erika and mates Elaine and Amanda provided us a safe, and educational nature experience that not many people get the chance to have. Once of the boat/zodiac (large enough for our group of 11. It had a shade canopy btw) we headed out to the beautiful waters around Keauhou Bay. It didnt take long before we saw a pod of about 30-40 dolphins swimming our way. With our new found knowledge of how to safely encounter dolphins in the wild we entered the ocean. It takes a little while to manouver yourself into a good viewing spot and Erika and team keep constant sight of you letting you know which way to swim or just wait because the pod is heading your way! We definitely got some great views of the dolphins as the swam by below, beside and around us. The dolphins do swim by fairly quickly but in this case they were circling around the area and we just hung in the ocean and they eventually came by again. We got back onboard to rest and move the boat a little and when ready jumped back in for another great encounter. All up it seemed like a couple of hours we did this (and time flies) when then had a small snack onboard before heading sourh to the Captain Cook monument to spend a hour or so snorkeling around this pristine marine sanctuary. Tropical fish abound. Again the Dolphin Discoveries crew kept constant view of us and made sure were safe. As we headed back to Keauhou Bay we enjoyed a lunch drinks and sightseeing along the way. We did the Alii premium tour and thought it was well worth it. mahalo to the Dolphin Discoveries team.
