“Nice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

My wife and I spent a couple hours on the beach after parasailing and touring the Kona Brewery. Very close to the pier (we had to tender to our cruise ship) and to Kona activities. Could have spent far more time there!

“Great beach for everyone, relax, watch dolphins, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, and have lunch.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2014

I love this beach. All the amenities needed. With a beach shack to rent everything from chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear, and kayaks, there's showers, bathrooms, and places to eat across the street. Not much for surfing, so its a great place for small kids. Surf lessons can be booked thru the shack. The sea life in the area is fun to watch sea turtles, dolphins, and in the winter humpback whales. Its awesome.

“Not the City of Refuge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013 via mobile

A review above says this is the City of Refuge. It is not. This is in Kona near the pier. The City of Refuge is south of Kona and is called

“Easy access historical site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

We walked down from the Kona Seaside so this site was very accessable for us. Walking past the little shops and lovely vegetation just added to our enjoyment. We watched children swimming and snorkeling and adults on paddle boards in the bay in front of the Marriot hotel. Nice beach atmosphere. Lovely bird of paradise hedge in full bloom!
The historical site sits off by itself in the midst of all this activity and that seems to add to its solemnity. This is a recently restored site and that is very commendable. It only take a few minutes to walk over there and we highly recommended that you do.

“Respecting Hawaiian History.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

We stayed at Kona Seaside Hotel which is just up the hill. Its a beautiful walk to the site. We had no clue what it was until we explored a little. The area is filled with history you can see & explore, unless prohibited! Great place to snorkel & swim with kids! There are shops,a bar with food(Quinns),shave ice & even a tattoo shop all very close. A fun place to hand out & relax. While there take the time to find out what these sites mean & why they are there. Respecting history is part of Hawaiian culture.
