Description: Rays on the Bay Restaurant is known for its fresh seafood, farm-to-table cooking, handmade artisan pizzas, local island favorites and the coldest beer on the Big Island. Guests will enjoy warm and welcoming service, ocean front views, live entertainment 7 days a week and of course the chance to see live Manta Rays feeding in the ocean directly infront of the restaurant. Rays is also the best spot to see a brilliant and romantic sunset while you gather with friends to enjoy hand crafted cocktails, pupus or dinner.

Ok the menu is a little weird, a couple of $30 entrees, but the rest $12-18 plus various pizzas, not a ton of variety. BUT, being in Hawaii, try to get away from upper $28+ entrees with not much of a view. Rays has a SPECTACULAR view (especially seeing the sun set), and the food (price and quality) is reasonable. If you set your expectations correctly you will walk away with a smile on your face and feel like you had a superb Hawaiian experience.

As far as the Rays go, I saw the boats with all the swimmers behind them, took a few looks, can't say that I saw any rays.

Great view of the sunset. Pupa's were terrific!! Service was excellent. There were five us and three of the meals were good, however; my fresh fish was way over cooked and extremely dry. That said, the manager became aware of it, and immediately tried to do everything possible to get me a new dish......Truly goes to show you, that every restaurant has a bad meal once in a while, but it is how they handle it that leaves you with your desire to return.

We stayed at the Sheraton and walked right down here. Great at sunset. Wait staff is a little slow, but it is Hawaii so no rush was needed. The happy hour appetizer menu is where it is at. The restaurant was too packed but getting in at the happy hour bar section is just as good and it may have been less expensive. I would definitely go back.

Since it's at the Sheraton, we were'nt sure how good it would be, but it was great. Ate there 3 nights in a row. There is a fish called Kanpachee (??) caught off the north end of the island that is just superb and wood grilled with your choice of suaces - my favorite was macadamia butter. Anyway, it was all good with a very friendly staff and bar. Drinks were priced too high, so be careful.

Food is blah. Waitress was surly. The drinks, on the other hand, were awesome! All the tables are in the sun -- hot in August.
