Barely noticeable near baggage claim at Kona airport on the Big Island, is this tiny museum honoring Hawai'i's first astronaut, a brilliant young man who perished in the Challenger disaster. In addition to actual uniforms, photos, and documents, gathered here seem to be every kids' book, toy, game, science kit, t-shirt, backpack, pencil, etc. ever designed to pique the interest of aspiring space travelers. Lots of hands-on opportunities and an excellent 10-minute video. Both my 4- and 2- year old grandsons loved it, and so did I!
