Perfect place to relax, sit out on the lanai and enjoy the Big Island. Very large two bedroom with full kitchen. Very clean and comfortable room and grounds. Very helpful and friendly staff; not pushy or trying to sell me anything as most time shares do. I had a second story room and could see the ocean from the lanai. The ocean is across the street, but in order to get to a beach you will have to walk or drive a short distance. The town is also a short walk or drive away with a number of restaurants to choose from. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I had a second story room as it appears the floors make a lot of noise when you walk

I stayed at the resort for 7 days in May, 2014, in a 2-bedroom condo. Loved it! The resort is just what I had hoped for...comfortable, casual elegance, local Hawaiian feel to it, and excellent staff who go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be. As it is a timeshare, there is always the concern about pushing that agenda. I was very pleasantly surprised that this was muted and kept to a minimum. This is near the hub of Kona activities, yet once you enter the resort grounds, you feel like you have been transported to native surroundings, exemplified by all the foliage and outdoor reception area. The 2 pool areas were great, too. Vey well maintained! Definitely a place I will return to.

We stayed at Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort for 8 days in early April. Most, if not all of the units, are 2 bedrooms/2 baths bungalow style. Even though it was only the two of us, I'm glad I decided to book it anyhow. I really enjoyed the charming 2 storey units vs. highrise buildings, and really appreciate a kitchen with all the basic necessities, including full dinnerware and cookware. We slept in the master bedroom with its own ensuite, outfitted with a claw-foot style jacuzzi tub, separate shower stall, W/C, and double-sink vanity. The tub was very much appreciated after full days of hiking, scuba diving and exploring the Big Island. The master bedroom has a door that connects to the spacious balcony, which was large enough to accommodate a solid six-person wood table and chairs, and a lounger yet still have room to walk around and not feel crowded. We didn't use the balcony much, but I did enjoy my morning coffee a couple of times out there and watch the birds and geckos go about their day while being surrounded by lush vegetation.

The resort offers free wi-fi and self-parking. The parking lots are located throughout the resort, close to the corresponding units. The grounds of the resort are well maintained and landscaped with beautiful trees and flower bushes. There is a small pond in the middle of the resort, home to koi fish and turtles, as well as colorful li'l geckos and butterflies roaming and fluttering about. In the evenings, bull frogs seem to come out and hang out around the grounds near the pond so we were careful not to drive over them. We love all critters so we thought this was cute and added character. The pools are wheelchair accessible and the outdoor hot tub has a chair lift for those who have mobility issues. There is actually more than one pool, including an adults-only pool, although we didn't use that one. This resort is located in the main Kailua-Kona area and easily accessible to all the major roads to get to points of interest.

I am a Wyndham owner, but we did not attend the update meetings, nor felt pressured to attend. We were out exploring the island for most of our trip, other than using the unit for rest and cooking breakfast so we really didn't take advantage of the amenities such as the self-BBQ and pools/jacuzzi until our check-out day, but that's ok. What impressed me about KHR was the overall experience. The staff working the open-air check-in/front-desk/Guest Services desks/groundskeeping were all friendly and professional. The grounds were kept clean, pool & BBQ areas always looked inviting. We had no need for anything and didn't request housekeeping, but one day during our stay, housekeeping came in while we were out and refreshed the towels, made our bed, and emptied the trash cans, which was a pleasant surprise.

Another really nice thing about our stay was that even though check-out time is 10am, I called the morning of check-out to request a later checkout and was told 11am is no problem. When I went to check-out at the front desk a bit later than 11am, I asked if we could borrow a couple of towels to use for the beach, not only did they not have a problem with that, they issued pool access cards for afterwards, even though we have already checked out. We took advantage of the pool and outdoor hot tub after our beach visit, and prior to our flight home that evening. The pool has a small waterfall feature and amazingly, the water did not smell like chlorine - almost fresh-water like. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we had time to stay and fire up the BBQ before our flight home.

Overall, I am very happy with our stay at Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort and will definitely stay there again in the future.

We stayed at Wyndham Kona Hawaiian Resort in a 2 bedroom unit on a timeshare exchange. We loved everything about this resort. The welcome provided by Brandy and Albert at check-in was a great start. Our unit 20A on the first floor looked straight out across the small pool area through the coconut palms to the ocean. From our lanai we saw 2 cruise ships entering the Bay to visit Kona. Our unit had everything we could want and provided a wonderful 'island' feel to come home to each day. We will do everything we can to obtain another exchange at this resort. We had a car and would recommend a car to fully appreciate this wonderful island. Without a car you can walk to the delightful village of Kona to enjoy all the shopping and dining in 10 minutes.

Room Tip: Our 20A was perfect with its partial ocean view.

We loved our 2 bedroom condo with full kitchen and our lanai. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for more than a hotel experience. The housekeeping staff came about every 3 days but we didn't need them. If you say that you make less than 75k a year the sales people don't bother you about buying a time share.

Room Tip: the entire complex is 2 bedroom condos
