“It's alright”
Reviewed August 2, 2008

The resort was very well looking and the rooms were very nice. Kitchen is well equiped for 4 people in a one bedroom unit. The two bedroom is much bigger but the one bed unit was fine for our family of four.

pros: Nice rooms, speedy service, easy check in, friendly staff(I don't think there was one staff member that didn't say "aloha" to us), landscaping was wonderful with a water feature around every corner

cons: Pools are kinda beat up. There are alot of them but only about 25% of them have a hot spa, working jets, and working lights. This is like the tennis capital of Hawaii so they have about 12 courtsaround which take up alot of space. There is no parking near your unit... you have to park in a garage then walk about 1-3 blocks to your unit. They have 400 golf carts and only one takes people to their unit. Trust me it's easier to walk then call for a cart.

Ok, let me talk about the area of Kona and Keauhou bay. 1st off, if you were thinking about staying in Hilo, you are much better off staying in Kona. There are more activities, and places to dine and go shopping. Hilo is more of a residental place. 2nd, it is a VERY GOOD idea to rent a car because you can't see much without one. Lastly, don't waste your time shopping at the local KTA store for coffee, bread, cereal, etc.. Walmart is much cheaper up the road. Fresh food however must be bought at the KTA.

We stayed here May 21-27 of 2008 - awesome place - very quiet and clean. The kitchen had everything ready for us to bring food and cook, the room was spacious and very comfy. The pool was refreshing and the spa hot each night. Having laundry facilities in room was great for clothes and drying swimsuits and towels. The resort offered many activities on site and the staff was always ready with a smile. It was an easy walk to the nearby ocean viewing area and Keauhou Harbor for ocean tours and kayaking. Its an easy drive into Kauila-Kona for tourism and nightlife/
restaurants. There is a golf course next door and the grocery store is nearby longer walk or short drive. I would be glad to return there again!

  • Liked — Quiet and comfy - friendly staff
  • Disliked — bottom unit can be slightly noisy with upstairs neighbors - no worse than any other place

We had a wonderful stay at the Holua Resort. This property is clean, private, updated(somewhat), and an excellent value. Our unit was a 2br/2.5ba. The kitchen/living room/dining room area is spacious. The property is equiped with a washer and dryer as well as tv/dvd players in all rooms. There are a lot of planned activities. We were to busy touring the island to enjoy them. There are 8 pools/spas. It is not unusual to find a private pool. The staff is friendly and professional. The only draw back is that the living room/dining room/kitchen are upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs.

We were here 2 weeks and loved every minute. Our home base is Kona Coast for time share we traded off. Great idea I liked it better here. I suppose with newly renovated rooms. Property I think is smaller we were always able to park the car nearby in the underground. Pool was very close to were we stayed. I would recommend this resort.

  • Liked — We were always whale watching at the Sheridan in the mornings.
  • Disliked — I dind't have any faults with our stay.

A lovely setting, very helpful employees, large rooms,
they make your visit enjoyable. We have a 2 bedroom unit,
it is fully furnished, and right on the 2nd fairway of the Kona Country Club Ocean course.
Many Palm trees, flowers, and colorful plants abound. The only negatives
we encountered were a problem with the AC unit, that was apparently
not fixable. They moved in a portable AC unit. And, No free High Speed Internet. They want to hook you up with a $9.95 a night ISP.
Not so good, when many other properties offer free Internet.

The property was beautiful. My family stayed in a 2 bedroom condo. It was clean and had everything you needed for a weeks stay. Even the bright colors of the enterior were not as bad as I thought it would be when I looked at the pictures. The only negative things I found was that parking lot was kind of a far walk to the condo and you can hear people walking on the second floor. See, the bedrooms are downstairs and the kitchen and family area is upstairs so when people are upstairs walking around you can hear them. Can be annoying if you like to sleep in and everyone else likes to get up early. Definitely make a trip to the Black Sand Beach and the Volcanoes National Park. Also, bring snorkle gear cause there is awesome snorkling on this island and don't forget to buy a pair of water shoes cause the beaches have lots of rocks.

  • Liked — Very spacious accomodations with many beds and pull outs as well.
  • Disliked — Very loud when you hear someone walking on the second floor and you are on the first floor.
