The resort is not on the water, but it is a short walk to a great snorkeling bay that has calm, shallow waters. Our spacious unit overlooked the golf course, with peek-a-boo views of the ocean. Our unit was 1 br / 2 baths with full kitchen, pull out sofa, and lanai. Unit was clean, comfortable bed, and the staff was very friendly. Check-in went smoothly (Tracy and Jenny are great). The resort has lots of gas BBQs for cooking outside (some heat a lot better than others), and a grocery store is conveniently located within walking distance at the Keauhou Shopping Center. All-in-all; great value and a great resort.

Room Tip: rooms closer to the ocean are further from the streets and should be quieter (and probably better vi...

Great place! When I think of this place, I think affordable, spacious, friendly, relaxing, clean and fun.

The comments of HeadStart 4u were spot on! I do not need to repeat anything that person said. The furnishings were all very tasteful as they were carved out to be pineapples. The oven range was modern and my wife pointed out to me how the carpentry had been reworked.

We enjoyed: The family pool, the hottub, the office, the office cat, Natasha, Jennie, the grounds, the washing machine and dryer, the privacy, the maintenance, the three televisions, the patio, the birds, palm trees, the tennis court, the coffee, etc., etc., etc.

The only two negatives were the bed did not fit the frame although it was of adequate size, the mattress in the master bedroom was stiff and it was kind of hard to figure out where the various light switches were for the overhead lights and the lamps. These negatives were not in the least bit annoying and I can't think of any better place we could have stayed.

The Kona Coast Resort is our "go to" place in Kona. The accommodations are spacious, clean, well-equipped, and convenient for all the activities that Kona and the Island of Hawaii have to offer. This is an excellent place to stay, whether for vacation or for business.

We visited this resort early May 2013. The grounds were immaculate. Great accommodations. There were 5 of us (all adults) in a 2 bedroom unit, with 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining and living rooms, and a lanai. Plenty of room for the 5 of us. Great furnishings. Well maintained. Kitchen had everything we needed. There are BBQs available but we didn't use them. Very close to grocery store and restaurants, Ali'i Drive with the shopping and merchants, and great snorkeling nearby. We bought groceries and ate breakfast and sometimes lunch in the unit, then we were out for the remainder of the day sightseeing. I guess the only negative is that there is no beach at the property. There is so much to see on the island, this didn't really bother us though. Having the washer/dryer in the unit was helpful too. Our unit was on the 3rd floor and there are no elevators. This may be problematic for some, but not us. Wouldn't hesitate to go back to this resort.

Room Tip: If stairs is a problem, try to get a ground floor unit. There is no elevator. We were on the 3rd flo...

We excahnged with our Maui Ocen Club Marriott in Maui and stayed for a week.
It was a totally wrong choice for us.
I don't recommend if you are an owner of Marriott or expect
to have a nice pool for kids and beautiful beach is on site.
Customers were mostly 60s and 70s there during our stay.
You need a car to stay there.

A shopping mall is near by for walking.
There is a farmers market at the mall parking lot.
They grow herbs on site and you can pick some for cooking.
Free parking but no security at night.

Room Tip: If you are not the owner of this property, you will not get the ocean view ( even it is the ocean is...

This was our second visit to Kona Coast Resort, but it won't be our last. The condos are well maintained, well furnished and we didn't have to do anything except relax. I love the fact each unit has a washer/dryer because it cuts down on the amount of clothes I have to pack. We had an older unit and, while it wasn't as "pretty" as the last, newer, unit, it worked well for us. If you want to cook, there's a complete kitchen and the necessary utensils. If you don't want to cook, there's a restaurant on the property and some excellent restaurants nearby.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so ask ahead if you have trouble with stairs. If you have children, ask for a...

This resort is really nice. We stayed in a one bedroom unit for a week. The units are very large with plenty of light well decorated. My husband loved the full kitchen even though we used the outside grill most nights. We did pay extra for the air conditioning but was worth every penny. It was hot and humid when we were out there over Mother's day week so having the air conditioning on at night was wonderful. I was really impressed with the landscape it was very well manicured. But best part to me was the center that rented out beach chairs, snorkel gear, coolers, everything you couldn't bring with you. They made the trip for me. Just a warning there is no beach access at this resort, but they are located close to several nice beaches.
