This was one of the highlights of our 10 day Hawaii trip. We were only in Kona for one day aboard the Pride of America and have no regrets about this excursion. We almost never do the ship sponsored excursions and this experience is one of the reasons. The boat generally holds 6 passengers, but for us it was just my wife and I on the 4 hour snorkeling trip. We weren't sure of exactly what to expect when we signed up as we've done the regular snorkeling trips in the past. However, this was far from just a regular snorkeling trip. The crew, Brett, Deron, and Mouna were fantastic and went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time. After explaining all about the boat we headed out to sea. Instead of rushing to the snorkeling site we explored the ocean and found whales and dolphins. We then headed to the snorkel site which was very secluded and had lots of great fish and turtles to see. We are novice snorkelers, but were put at ease with the crew's experience and direction. After a brief snack we started the trip back where Brett showed off the boat and everything it can do. Our hands were hurting from holding on so tight, but that was a small price to pay for the enjoyment. Deron gave a great history lesson on the island and what we were seeing along the coast. My wife is prone to motion sickness, but the only time she even felt ill was when the boat was anchored for snorkeling. So if you are in Kona be sure to check these guys out. And if you are on a cruise ship, this will blow away any ship sponsored excursion. Only draw back to being on the cruise ship is the cost of the taxi over to the marina can add up. Thanks to the crew for an amazing trip!
