“There are much better beaches out there”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

This is a small beach on Ali'i drive (the main drag in Kona town). The only reason I can see someone coming here is that they don't have a car or just don't want to drive out to another beach. Again this beach is very small and on most days you'd be hard pressed to find a free patch of sand. Also the water is very crowded with body-surfers who often crash into each other. Forget about this beach in winter as the name Magic Sands implies, the sand goes away leaving a lot of exposed rocks. Good beach if you just want a quick dip, but not for a day in the sun, go to Kua Bay or that.

“Variable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

A small beach close to where we stay, so it is convenient to go to. The I amount is beach varies with the season, but there is always enough beach to find a place to sit. Lots of parking and easy to get to. Just don't always expect a great swimming or snorkelling experience. But even if you don't go in the water it is a great place to just sit in the sun and watch the waves.

“Magic Sands was magic rocks”

The reason for the name.. the sand dissapears during the winter months. Best during late spring through the first big storm in the fall or winter

“Popular beach for body surfing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

This beach has a lot of boogie boarders and body surfers. signs are posted warning of strong currents and shore breaks so you need to be sure of your abilities on high surf days. There is a lifeguard, washrooms, showers, good parking.

“Small beach, good waves”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 20, 2013

Good place to bodysurf and boogyboard. Very small and usually very crowded on weekends. If you get there early (before 9am) parking is not an issue, and there will be plenty of good waves to catch.
