“Amazing Facility”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

There are various tour options on various days to suit different interest levels. Renewable energy and options are becoming more of a reality with their work. You don't need lots of traditional fuel to generate lots of energy. The Earth gives us lots of tools to work with!

“Tide pools”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2013

This area has great tide pools. Nice place to stop on your way to the airport the morning you are leaving. Not enough shade to spend the day. I wouldn't go in the water here.

“Interesting to see a full-on solar project”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

Go into the main building for info on the place. Some plants nearby offer tours from time to time. There are lobsters and abalone being grown in the cold bottom water and they are going to fund a large improvement next year. It is warm so bring an ice chest. Have lunch from Taco Del Mar on the sand at the beach area. Safe water for kids.

“Excellent tour and presentation”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

We've been coming to Kona for many years and we finally took the grand Friday tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The volunteer staff is outstanding, the information they offered is incredible, the technology and work they are doing is totally outside the box. I highly recommend it, as it was time well spent and we will go back again someday for an update.
