Love the history of the monarchy of Hawaii. Very pretty place as well! Very peaceful and beautiful right on the water.

“Royal treatment”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

The Hulihee Palace was a very interesting quick tour in downtown Kona. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable about all the artifacts and the history surrounding them. You will get a good grasp of the history of royalty in Hawaii in a short time. Don't miss it!

“Take the guided tour”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

The home is rather small so there wasn't a whole lot to see. There are only four rooms and the second story balcony was roped off so we couldn't even go outside and enjoy the view. There was a docent giving a guided tour to a group and they were able to go outside on the balcony and hear about the history of the home; I'm sure the experience would have been much better had we taken a guided tour but this wasn't even offered and we didn't know it was available until we were already up on the second story. It was average at best without the docent.

“Take some time out to see this palace”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

While enjoying the shopping, dining and walking along Ali'i Drive in Kona, take some time to see the Hulihe'e palace and the Congregation Church across the street. The church is an original structure and the palace is a lovely 6 room retreat from the heat, complete with original furnishings. You will learn about members of the Hawaiian royalty. Don't forget to take a break and sit on the lovely deck overlooking the sea. An entrance fee well worth it as the Daughters of Hawai'i use these funds to keep the building in good shape.

“A Palace for a Princess”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2014

Take a look how Princess Hulihe lived oh so many years ago. Lovely home has been lovingly restored and maintained. A nice waterfront location in the heart of Kailua Kona, the palace is a nice, cool respite from the tropical sun.
