“Beautiful palace for its place and time”
Reviewed December 30, 2013

The furniture they have collected that was originally here, and which they had to search for and re-acquire, and that which was also from the period, was amazing. If you like Hawaiian wooden bowls and furniture this is a must see.

“Glimpse of history”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

Interesting palace that provides a quick glimpse of Hawaiian history. Ask one of the guides for information or take a tour. Closes at 4 and closed on Sundays.

“Great piece of history”
Reviewed December 18, 2013

A beautiful little house museum that was built by a Hawaiian governor and became one of the homes of the royal family and set up much like it was when they lived there. It is a house museum run by the Daughters of Hawaii and very well taken care of. They even stayed open late the day we got there.

“Monthly free concerts at Hulihe'e Palace”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

On the third Sunday of the month (usually) there is a free concert at the Palace on the lawn
behind it... bring a lawn chair or sit on the wall or grass. There is usually a small band,
singer(s) and hula. Alii drive is closed on the third Sunday and there are a lot of vendors in
the street-- art, gifts, jewelry, food. It is worth a visit. Concert starts at 4pm. This year each
month honored a different member of Hawaiian royalty; this month it was King Kalakaua.
Concerts are about an hour long.
