There are only 6 rooms, so it would be boring unless you know what you're doing. But we got there just as the curator was giving a tour, and that was great. An excellent review of the history of the Hawaiian monarchy. Really not to be missed, but make sure you get the tour!

It is a little annoying that your 8 bucks doesn't get you in to the bathroom. That is for "staff only".

Stayed right in town in Kona, and this attraction was right in the heart of town. Beautiful location and wonderful piece of history to visit. It helps you to see how "old" Hawaii was and you get to see and hear it's rich history.
Take the time to visit and you won't be disappointed.

For a modest entrance fee Hulihe'e offers a view of Hawaiian history and culture. Run by the Daughters of Hawaii, Hulihe'e has been restored and much of the royal family's furniture gathered to make this a meaningful glimpse into their lives. Many Hawaiian artifacts are also on display as well. When the docent tells you to ask questions....do it! Our docent had much great info but we had to ask.

The "Palace" is not as grand as those in some of the historical European ones, but it is charming, easy to get to, right in the heart of Kona town on The Big Island, and an important part of the Hawaiian monarchy history.

for those who enjoy learning a bit of history, seeing ancient Hawai'ian artifacts, and seeing some wonderful antique furniture this is a worthwhile stop. Parking nearby but not at the property. Very modest cost for entry.
