Owner description: Hulihe‘e Palace is located in historic Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, on Ali‘i Drive. Once a summer vacation home for Hawaiian royalty, today Hulihe‘e Palace is a museum showcasing Victorian artifacts from the era of King Kalākaua and Queen Kapi‘olani.

The Hulihe'e Palace is small, but worth taking the few minutes needed to walk through and see the building and the artifacts. The view from the rear of the building is absolutely spectacular. It is obvious why the King decided to spend the later years of his life in Kona.

This palace is a must if you love gorgeous, carved wood. The very rare and protected koa wood is featured, along with other Hawaiian wood, in this wonderful old palace. It was built in 1838. One must remove shoes and no pictures are allowed inside. This museum is a real Hawaiian treasure. There is a small admission cost and price for seniors is just $4.00. It is open Tuesday-Saturday 9:00AM-4:00 PM. It is located in downtown Kona right on the water. There is also a little gift shop with restroom facilities.

Travelers should visit and acquaint themselves about the Palace and the Hawaiian history! Remember that Hawaii was once ruled by its Hawaiian people and learn how they lived!
