Because our rental condo was not available the day we arrived in Kona, we booked into this hotel for one night. It worked well for our needs. It’s easy to find from the airport, the room was spacious if dated and worn, the beds and pillows were really comfortable, the shower worked well, and a continental breakfast is included (fruit juice, coffee and trayloads of papaya, mini-muffins, English muffins and make-your-own toast). The reception staff were welcoming and helpful, and they waived the parking fee as we were only there overnight. I wouldn’t want to spend a lengthy vacation there, but for a night or two, you can’t beat the cost or convenience. The hotel is opposite the ocean, next to the farmers market (Wed-Sun) and an easy stroll to countless cafes, restaurants, bars and shops. Were it not for the obvious wear and tear to the room (except for the beds) I would have given this an overall four-star rating rather than three.

Room Tip: To minimize traffic noise, ask not to be close to Ali'i Drive.

As sketchy as the name sounds, Uncle Billy's is a quaint little place in the heart of downtown Kona. Everything is walking distance and you can see the ocean during the day and the lights of Ali'i Drive at night! You get what you pay for and if you are looking for a lower priced option it is great! Dont expect diamond quality but if you are on a budget its great for a few nights. This place is older, but it is clean. Nice little local aloha feel!

Okay, the location is great, the room clean & the price is right but the air conditioner was noisy & more importantly, it didn't work . The room at night is stifling. We didn't have a single good night's sleep . There's alot of noise & loud music from the nearby cafes & restaurants which would have been fine if we could close the balcony door to shut it out. The fan which did work was on the other side of the room, away from the bed !!! The mind boggles. The breakfast was fine & yes, there was cheap parking to be had but no sleep.
I agree with everyone that the place needs work. We were there for 4 nights & after the 2nd night I put the towels on the floor for washing but I know for a fact that they didn't wash them. They just dried , folded & we got the same ones back.

Needed a one night stay in Kona without breaking my bank account. Room was clean, bed comfy and breakfast was great - considering it was free! Lots of fresh papayas! Staff was friendly and hotel located within walking distance of everything downtown. It's not the Hilton, but it's not the price of the Hilton either and you're in Hawaii to be out.....not sit in a room!

If you want luxury, this place is not for you. The location is great but rooms need some work. The staff is nice enough, but the rooms need to be rehabbed . All of the plumbing fixtures were wonky and my ceiling fan didn't work.
