Owner description: Captain Zodiac has entertained guests for over 42 years on our exciting 24-foot Zodiac rafts. You will see the rugged coastline up close as you explore a sea cave and see exposed lava tubes, blowholes and archways. You will snorkel in the crystal clear waters of Kealakekua Bay Marine preserve viewing over 150 varieties of fish. You must keep a sharp eye out for pods of dolphins, whales and other marine mammals that come close to our rafts. The Zodiac ride is fast, fun and educational! You will hear about the Hawaiian history of the area, learn about marine life behaviors and learn the island’s geology.

My husband and I opted to for a staycation for his 60th birthday and since we live in a tourist town, it's easy to find things to do that he hasn't done before. I looked at the Captain Zodiac tour before but always ended up taking the big boats. What a mistake!! Chris was our captain, Tyson was crewing, and we had so much fun. Just out of the harbor, we spotted dolphins, then went to pilot whales, then watched a guy reel in a marlin, while still watching the whales. We finally headed down south, got to see a whale by one of the buoys because there was a mahi stuck on the buoy, then we saw false killer whales. Unfortunately, there a south swell, so the bay wasn't crystal clear as it usually is for snorkeling, but was still gorgeous. We snorkeled a bit, had a sandwich and chips, then headed back to town. Again, due to the south swell, we couldn't get in close to some of the coastline, but we did get to see awesome waves coming back in to town, dolphins again in the bay, then a few turtles just before we docked. Thanks to a good crew, my husband and I had a great trip, and now I know where we'll send friends and family when they come to visit here. I think I might even have to join in on the fun and go again sometime. The zodiacs really are fun to go out on, no seasickness on them, they scoot along on the ocean even when it's rough, and it's really a much smoother, faster, funner ride than the big boats and MUCH more personable!! Highly recommend!!!!!

I found this trip much more fun that the larger boats, such as Fair Wind and Hula Kai (booked those in previously years). Being on the raft, we were able to go faster and it was so much fun! I also like the smaller group of people.

Snorkeling was great and the food was good, too. Our tour guides Shane and Buddah were a lot of fun.

We went on a family reunion trip with 10 people and had Ken and Joy as our guides. Not only were they a ton of fun, but they knew the history of the island and stopped to show us everything. We saw numerous pods of dolphins, lava caves, island goat, parrots, and even had a story about the time he took out Matt Damon's family. We all thoroughly enjoyed our day and would recommend this to anyone! Mahalo Ken!

We enjoyed a fantistic afternoon with Captain Zodiac raft cruises spotting whales, dolphins and wildlife along the shorline. Magic snorkel site at Kealakekua Bay ... amazing variety of tropical fish. This cruise was certainly a highlight of our time in Hawaii. Thank you

This was the best tour during our 10 day vacation in Hawaii. Shane and Stacia did a wonderful job of showing us the beauty of the Kona area the underwater world of Kealakekua Bay. They made the ride on the Zodiac boat from the port to the snorkeling site a real blast. We were very fortunate to see about 40 spinner dolphins, a group of pilot whales, and several very rare pygmy killer whales. It was incredible to be able to see these beautiful marine mammals during the tour. The snorkeling around the reef was amazing. It was so much nicer to be on a boat with only 10 people than some of the other tour boats we saw that were crowded. We got to go places that other boats were not able to even get close too. And Shane can carve up a pineapple like no one else!
