This was out second visit in the last 8 months to the resort , the first with our daughters. We had a wonderful stay. Great room with a ocean front room.
The room was very clean and comfortable. Housekeeping were great when we asked for extra towels. The breakfast buffet was nice and fresh with one of the meats rotating each day.
Their new drink the lava flow is with trying.
We are already planning on coming back next year. The only down fall is that they charge for the Internet , but we were not on vacation to worry about Internet.

Aloha TA family, great to see a solid review from a well traveled TA contributor. We strive to be Kona's best value for the best ocean front location. It's our goal to provide clean, well maintained rooms and grounds, as well as enticing, appetizing food and beverage, hence the shout out to our Lava Flow. Happy hour nightly from 4p-6p is also a great time to watch the sunset, and sample other great drinks and pupus. Glad this return guest had another great stay, we'll look forward to welcoming them back on their return. A Hui Hou

Great older hotel on a point over the water. If you get a room on the ocean side, the waves crash right below you and lull you off to sleep. At the south end of the main drag, with dozens and dozens of restaurants to choose from a short walk away. Good restauraunt in the hotel, also overlooking the water.

Spent one night after flying in from Australia and location close to the airport and town made an ideal choice. Rooms are old but were large, clean and well kept and staff very efficient. I had a sea view room in the tower that over looked the Luaus but did not find the noise an issue in getting a good night sleep. Watching the sun set was a great way to start a holiday and being able to open the door and listen to the waves crashing on the shore below a treat. Try a swim in the ocean rock pool but take care getting in and out as the stairs are very slippry.

Aloha TA Family, another solid review from a TA Senior Reviewer, glad they were able to enjoy the sunset, and sounds of the ocean from their room. Remember, we have the best location in Kona too, steps away from additional dining, night life, shopping, galleries, farmers market, historical sites, and the Kailua Pier for a myriad of water activities. Glad these visitors from Down Under started their holiday with us.

Very nice resort. Meeds to be updated and the grounds need some love. Everyone here is very helpful and nice. When we checked in we had paid for a partial ocean view and was given a free upgrade to a full ocean view. Great location you are in walking distance of restaurants and shopping.

The Royal Kona is a great choice if you want to be within walking distance of restaurants ad shopping. Many choices are literally right outside the front door. We had an oceanfront room with a great view of the lagoon. There is a nice pool area and open-air bar. If you don't want to spend the money for a pricey dinner at their restaurant (Don the Beachcomber's), I would recommend sitting at the bar and ordering from their menu. The Huli-Huli chicken sandwich is delicious. The one negative we had was that we were given a room with two double beds when we booked a king room. They didn't have any king rooms available the first night, and we had to wait until the next day, which is kind of a pain because you can't unpack. All in all, this hotel is a great value for the money.

Room Tip: The south side of the Lagoon Tower's rooms have been updated and provide a great view of the lagoon/ocean.

Aloha TA family, always nice to see that a TA Senior Reviewer had a terrific stay. Looks like we met almost all of their expectations. We try very hard to accommodate guest requests, especially bedding, though there are occasions when we are unable. Glad we were able to switch them to a nice ocean front room in the lagoon tower. The food and drinks are great as mentioned at the Mai Tai Bar, and we have special Happy Hour prices from 4p-6p daily too. Glad they had a great stay!
