Very nice grounds and setting, only complaint is that the beds were not comfortable at all, older hotel. The staff that we encountered were very friendly. The location was perfect, close to everything. We only stayed one night .Parking was 10 $ but close and convenient, would stay here again.

Room Tip: Bay tower was very quiet ,had ocean front room, but did not use it much so next time would probably j...

Aloha TA Family, sounds like these guests had a great time, and enjoyed their stay with us. I did send them a PM to find out which room they occupied so we can replace the bed. We normally have wonderful comments on the comfort of our beds, so I'm disappointed to know they weren't satisfied. Mahalo Nui Loa,

It's been a week since we got back from our Hawaiian destination wedding. Our guests had nothing but good things to say about the resort. My husband and I chose the Royal Kona Resort because we felt comfortable with our email exchange with Brian and Ashley from the beginning. They were so accomodating, professional and answered all my questions promptly. Everything was perfect on the day of our wedding from my in room hair and makeup stylist, Jackie, photographer, Ranae & Duncan, videographer, Willie and of course, our musician Bula. We definitely want to come back to celebrate our first year anniversary here! :) The only thing we wish is we had a more dynamic DJ, other than that everyone had a good time

Aloha TA family, great to see these newlyweds had a wonderful stay, and wedding with us. Their review pretty much nails it. Our Romance team is really tops, second to none, and will ensure you're special occasion, wedding, vow renewal or special event goes off without a hitch. I'm sure we'll see them next year for their first anniversary! Mahalo

We stayed in the Bay Tower and it was really showing its age - peeling paint, stained carpet, dated decor. But ... our room was large, the bed very comfortable, cleanliness acceptable, efficient air conditioning, and the view from the lanai was awesome. We had asked for an ocean front room and they delivered. We didn't eat at the resort, but enjoyed a drink (expensive) from the bar next to the pool. The pool area was very nice and we could listen to the waves as we sipped our Mai Tais. The hotel is very well situated, a few minutes walk from lots of shops and restaurants. The resort does charge for everything extra - Wifi, parking etc.

Room Tip: Apparently some of the resort has been refurbished and it might be worthwhile asking specifically fo...

Aloha TA Family, great to know they enjoyed our fantastic location, the pool that sits right next to the ocean edge, and the great food and beverages we serve at Don's Mai Tai Bar. As mentioned, we're not the newest resort, but do strive to provide a clean and well maintained resort for our guests to enjoy. And yes, no resort fees, items that other hotels bundle in and sell as a benefit whether you use them or not, we charge ala carte. Allows us to keep our prices low, and us the best value for location in Kona. Glad they enjoyed! Much Aloha,

The employees were good, but deferred maintenance every where, stuff growing inside main light fixtures to dinning & bar, & on the lattice over dinning area. All towels well worn,The railings keeping one from falling from the multi-story atrium looks below safety codes for height. It could be very nice if the owners would clean & maintain.

Aloha TA family, sorry to hear we let this customer down in some areas, but I'm glad they found our staff to be accommodating Although its a fact, we're not the newest kid on the block, we do strive to provide a clean and well maintained resort for our guests to enjoy. I hope they had a great time on the Amazing Big Island!

We just got back from a 6 night vacation at the Royal Kona. This is not a high end hotel but, is still a wonderful resort. We were given an oceanfront room and Wow what a view. The rooms are good size and very clean. Staff was very nice and helpful. They have a little beach and lagoon here, which you can swim and snorkel. We snorkeled here and saw lots of different fish, eels, and even a sea turtle on one day. This hotel is close to resturants, shopping and beaches. The only thing we were kind of disappointed about was, last time they gave coupons for breakfast to the guests and they said they don't do that anymore. We did choose to go to other places for breakfast instead of having breakfast there. We enjoyed staying here this time as much as our last trip. Thank you Royal Kona, you do a great job.

Before arriving here, we had just been at Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu, where they treat customers like gold. More like silver or nickel here at Royal Kona Resort. Royal Kona didn't have a resort fee, but they charge for ever little thing. Local phone calls, calling card phone calls, 800 # phone calls, parking, and not sure what else. We had a King Corner room, which had a great view! That's the good part of the room. The decor was ok, but should be updated to be competitive. The lanai was in great need up maintenance. The carpet out there was torn. The concrete had raised in spots. The railings were rusty. We didn't have lounge chairs, like the pictures showed. The luau noise was annoying after a long drive from Hilo in the rain. The pool area didn't have bar service. And the pool water was cold.

Aloha TA family, sorry to hear these guests were disappointed with their accommodations. Seems like when it rains it pours, so read between the lines. No resort fees, items like internet, parking are ala carte, if you don't use, you don't pay, simple. Most people use their cell phones now for calls etc. As for the pool, yes we do have bar service, sorry if we let them down there. I truly hope they enjoyed Hawaii Island for all the amazing things she has to offer. Warmest Mahalo,

We booked a 9 night stay in a oceanfront room. The front staff was very fast and gave us a excellent room in the lagoon tower. second floor oceanfront. Binoculars are a must here.this time of year(mid-feb.) as the whales and spinners are just offshore.i was able to find spouts 90 percent of the times i looked.the kingbed was tired but still ok.maids were good and everything was done to perfection everyday.walking downtown is easy and quick.i would recomend a car rentall,as the fee is small and parking lot is secure.i would recommend this room for sure. the oceanfront is a must as being one of the best i have seen.it is a carpeted and covered lanai that has a view of waves, ocean, boats, pool and luaus five nights a week. room 249!! thank you, royal kona

Aloha TA family, its great to see how much these guests enjoyed their stay with us. It's pretty apparent we met and exceeded their expectations, we're glad they had such a good time. This time of year the whales are abundant, and through out the year, we have pods of spinner dolphins that reside in the waters fronting the resort, as well as the endangered green sea turtles (who frequent our private lagoon) Do your homework, you'll not find a better location and value that we offer here at the Royal Kona Resort, mahalo!
