“Comfy Rooms but Minimal Breakfast”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

My husband and I stayed here one night during a bus trip of the National Parks with Road Scholar. It is close to Joshua Tree. The beds were comfortable and we both slept very well. Everything was clean.

The breakfast was really minimal however. I wanted something substantial so made a waffle, but it wouldn't come out of the pan. I told the attendant there needed to be more oil on the waffle maker and the batter needed to be thinned a little. The attendant assured me he could do better and indicated that everything was just fine. He said he'd make another one for me, but I told him not to bother and ate a semi-stale bagel instead. In the meantime he proceeded to make another waffle which still wouldn't come out of the pan. He finally got it out and brought it over to me as I was leaving and seemed astonished I didn't want it - the whole thing was sort of weird.

Other than the weird breakfast experience, everything was okay. The outside of the hotel is very pretty and has lots of flowering desert plants.

Quite a nice place. Fresh, cool, clean, and wonderful service at the front desk. There's a nice little lounge area with couches, a tv, coffee, and tea. Linens were nice new, white linens and the bathroom was very big and clean. We didn't go in the pool, but saw quite a few people hanging out in it during the day.

Thanks to the sweet lady at the front desk who looked up movie times for us!

Great place!

The hotel was nicely decorated. There were many amenities that made it better than most other places to stay. The service was very good and the staff was friendly and very accomodating. Even on a very busy night the staff went above and beyond to take care of us.

This was our first stop on our two week vacation in the US desert southwest. After driving 8 hours from norhtern California we were pleasantly surprised with the courtious staff, free Taco dinner, room accomidations and the rereation area. We met a number of people travelling through the 29 Plams area and Joshua Tree National Park. Everyone seem pleased with the accomadations and the location to the park. The included breakfast started our first full day in Joshua Tree Park on a positive note. I highly recommend.

Having flown from Australia, and then jumping straight in a car and driving from Los Angeles, we arrived in 29 Palms exhausted. Desperate for somewhere to stop and recharge our batteries before driving again the next day, we stopped at the Fairfield in 29 palms. It was about 1pm, so yes, before normal check in time. The reception guy was incredibly rude and told us he couldnt tell us what the availability was until after 2.30pm. Exhausted and in no mood to listen to rude people, we crossed the road and went to Hotel 29. What a great choice! The guy at reception was more than happy to help us. He got us into a room straight away, and for $90 with breakfast you cant complain! The room was clean and a good size. The bed was comfy, pillows a little soft for my liking but no problems for my husband. After a shower and a few hours sleep, we were starving. Reception pointed us in the direction of the carousel cafe - which was great for a light dinner.

Breakfast the next morning was standard, but more than suitable. Didnt swim in the ppol, but its looked nice and clean. Would definately recommend staying here!

My daughter and I stayed here recently since her boyfriend returned home from his deployment. The staff was very friendly and accommodating with our late check out requests, and our uncertainty over how many nights we were staying. Breakfast was good, and available before 6 am. The pool area was clean and a nice place to relax. We will plan on staying again here if the need arises.

OK, good for the price. Breakfast as in many "free breakfast" hotels just simply isn't to my taste so there's no benefit for me. Coffee bland and weak, dry cereal, Kraft Velveeta slices inside an omelette, some sort of "porridge" that tasted like meat, slabs of sausage. All of it overprocessed, commercial, unhealthy, lowest common denominator food...except for the fresh apples and bananas and yoghurt. That's breakfast and that's personal preference. On the plus side, nice pool, good size, clean, refreshing. Room was a good size. Staff were very friendly and helpful. On a separate note, and not pertaining at all to the hotel, but, there is a marine base in this town. We stayed at the hotel on a weekend and apparently there had recently been a return of troops from Afghanistan. There were marines everywhere, including quite prominently in the hotel (it's obvious when you see tall, muscled, ramrod straight men). Not being from the US this was my first exposure. Neither pleasant nor unpleasant, I have nothing bad to say about them, just it was interesting to see them. They didn't smile much...sad.
