Review of Palm Kabob House

Palm Kabob House
Certificate of Excellence
Cuisines: Mediterranean
Description: An unexpected find in an out-of-the-way place. The entry point for Joshua Tree National Park, 29 Palms is also known for its Marine base. For some reason, Middle-Eastern folks who really know how to cook have landed there. They serve plenty of kabobs, kafta & shawarma; we stuck with the vegetarian food: lemon lentil soup, roasted cauliflower salad, and the absolutely best stuffed grape leaves I've ever eaten. Easy to say, I know, but seriously, these people understand how to spice food in a way that's both subtle and complex. A very satisfying meal.

Wow! This place is a hidden treasure. I can't believe I've lived in 29 Palms for 9 months and been missing out on this the whole time! And I even do my laundry next door! The humus..delicious, lamb..DELicious. The waitress is a doll, quiet, but sweet and full of knowledge about the food. I got the lamb kabob and couldn't get over how good the rice topped with almonds is! Seriously an amazing place, YOU HAVE TO TRY IT =D Hope I get to go again before we move to NC on Friday!!

We've been to 29 Palms a couple of times now on the way to Joshua Tree. Palm Kabob House is a bountiful oasis in the culinary desert that is 29 Palms (sorry for that). Great food, good prices, healthy and kid-friendly. I wish they'd move to Santa Barbara - I'd eat there all the time.

If the owners of this restaurant relocated to a larger city they would be kabillionaires. The food is truly that good. Not to look down on 29 Palms, which I like very much, but to have a restaurant of this quality in 29 is mind blowing. First of all the outside is rather nondescript and about 2 blocks down the street from McDonalds on Adobe St. Inside the restaurant was pleasant and super clean. The waitress was cute, friendly and informative. We ordered a meat dinner for two which came with Chicken kabobs, Chicken schwarma and lamb kabobs, a heaping pile of rice an almonds, plus two huge falafals and two huge grape leaf rolls, a salad and a bowl of lemon lentil soup---all for about $30. We totally plowed into this and I have to say that the Lamb kabob was the star---moist and delicious but everything else was also excellent. Two weeks in Cali including SD and this was by far the best place to eat. People in 29 are lucky to have this restaurant.

My family and I love to stop in the kabob house after a day at Joshua Tree National Park. The kabob is delicious, as is the rest of the food. The waitress and other folks, especially the owner, are warm and generous hearted and willing to chat if they have the time. Everything we ate we enjoyed and we will come back the next time we are out that way.
