Lovely clean apartments. We had a fantastic time in aqua fun. No long queues for slides like the UK, Nice beach nearby and good places to visit. We enjoyed plopsaland and Brugge. Even the weather was good! Highly recommended.

Staff were so helpful and pleasant, with perhaps at last a recognition that their survival is not compulsory and that the key to success is customer service. The new Aqua Village is much better and the sauna section close to excellent (just the interior cold showers had problems with their push buttons). Get a member of staff to show you the whole facility as no map of where things are so you could miss the special sauna sessions in the sweat lodge or the underrgound Thai room and bath. Outside the facility the cycling is easy to local villages and the extensive sandy beaches.

Just returned from a midweek (5 day break). Stayed in the "exclusive" accomodation villas/ chalets. Reasonable amount of space, very well equiped and comfortable bed. The sauna was also great on an evening as it was cold 2 of the 5 days we were there. The Aquafun (swimming dome) was great and our two kids really enjoyed it. The local town (Nieuwpoort) had a good beach, lots of restaurants and seemed very new as a resort.

The only downside of the whole holiday was the service in the on-site restaurants/ cafes. They seemed understaffed and we ended up giving up and walking out after waiting 40 mins for lunch to arrive on our second day. The issue seemed to be the same in all on-site cafes for lunch. We therefore went shopping and made our own lunch.

Overall, however, a really good holiday.

We have just returned from a short family half term break to Oostduinkerke Sunparks West Flanders. It was a good value break but don't go expecting 5 star standards. Accommodation in the chalets is basic but location is fine. The aquadome is fantastic but is open to the general public.
We visited Bruges in the pouring rain and the weather was pretty poor. The beaches are sandy and wide but lined with endless soulless looking apartment blocks. This part of Belgium is not too scenic but we would return to Bruges. Also the language spoken in this part is mainly Dutch and even the tourist information leaflets have hardly any English translations. luckily we could rely on the French information.

After having a good time at Sunparks de Haan in February. I decided to try the Oostduinkerke site as we were travelling with a bigger group, including a pair of two month old twins. The shorter drive from the channel ports were a consideration. We all had a good time at the site and were pleasantly surprised how quiet it was for an Easter weekend. On Good Friday there were more staff than swimmers in the dome, the slides were always free and were good fun. The green slide from the tower should only be attempted if you are feeling brave. To continue the theme of quietness, on Easter Saturday we were the only group in the soft play.

I agree with some of the comments on the standard of the cottages. Our group hired a mixture of select and exclusive levels. The exclusive decor was of a high standard, the others were showing some wear and tear, but still were adequate value for the priced we paid. We did raise a maintainence issue on arrival, and it was swiftly dealt with. If you choose select level ensure that you take your own towels and bedding. Duvets are supplied.

We took a group trip out to Ostende which was great fun via the Coast tram, tickets are available at reception. We visited the Hendricks park in the centre of Ostende which had a good value cafe next to a large safe play park.

As we had two baby twins in our group and English tourists in Belgium are a bit of novelty, we treated very well and found everyone really friendly.

I would certainly go back, but take the exclusive option next time.

Having been to Sunparks 4 times in the past 5 years, the age and minimal maintenance of the properties is becoming evident. The lack of investment in the properties is a shame as the family really enjoy the facilities offered by the park. In addition to the swimming and tennis etc, you can cycle down to town and spend an afternoon on the sandy beach, drink coffee in the lovely cafe's or even do a bit of retail therapy in the many boutique shops. All enjoyable apart from when you get back to the villa.

This year the dinning chairs 2of 4 had ripped seats. The bathroom had no over flow plug in the bath just a big hole, so once the kids had their normal post swim bath, we had to spend the next 10 minutes mopping the floor!!! The stairs to the mezzanine bedrooms had a couple of cracked/broken steps making the climb down in the morning slightly precarious.

I would like to say we will be going back next year, as the park is head and shoulders above the expensive uk based centreparcs, but if try properties are not looked after this year we will not be going back again and would advise those with small children to think carefully about going as there are many sharp or cracked edges which could cause harm to the small fingers and toes.

Sunparks management, you have been advised, please put the investment back into the accommodation and get the park back to where it was.

Have read some further reviews and would just like to say that we have been visiting Sunparks for over 10 years during which time it has changed hands a few times.
On our first visit we where given a very nice booklet (which I should have kept) it gave all the evening markets and local attractions and was in English. As the years have gone by the information has got less and less which means that travellers are not informed and are missing out on local attractions.
I am not a fluent foreign language speaker and I think it is a curtesy to visitors to help them find out about local attractions.
