My Husband & I spent 4 nights in this cosy family run hotel in December 2011. We were in Austria to go skiing, however there was no snow. There wasn't much else to do in the town of Soll either!
We were greeted on arrival and the lady at reception helped us take our bags upstairs (in the lift) to the first floor. However we weren't given any information on the hotel, ie the sauna & gym facilities, times for breakfast & dinner. We worked it out ourselves.
Maybe this was because we are english speakers and the family were very Austrian, speaking German and not much english, but enough to get by. The grandmother was very nice, she didn't speak any english but you could tell by her gestures what she meant sometimes and she did try!
The hotel was very quiet the whole time we were there, only a bus load of pensioners and one other couple. (probably due to the lack of snow!)
Our room was enormous! We had a table with two chairs, small sofa & a large very comfortable double bed (with two single mattresses pushed together - but hardly noticable). We had a balcony looking down to the town, with lovely views of the mountains opposite the valley.
The bathroom was beautiful and a decent size, toilet in same room, shower over bath.
There were a few common public areas, a sitting area upstairs with lounges (and tv I think), sitting area downstairs near the dining area.
The hotel has a sauna and massage area which is really nice. (and a gym) But since we were literally the only guests in the hotel we had to ask for the Sauna to be turned on and wait about half an hour, but this didn't bother us.
The food was beautiful & table service great. We paid for halfboard which included our dinner each night and buffet breakfasts (definitely the way to go - there weren't many restaurants open in town), which included breads & rolls, cold meats and cheeses, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, seeds, juice & coffee. We indulged every morning!!
We were lucky enough to be at the hotel one night the same time as a birthday party, we were sat in a booth away from all the people, however we got a very fancy and yummy dinner that night.
Each night we had very satisfying 3 course meals, with bread & dips for starters, soup for entree with a buffet salad bar, main meal of meat & veggies and amazing desserts. (including home made apple strudel and vanilla custard). We never left hungry!
We were even surprised one night by a lady playing the harp to us while eating our dessert.
The hotel is located about a 10min walk from town, perched up on the hill, a lovely location. (however our taxi driver took a few wrong turns before making it there!)
Overall we were very happy with our stay at Alpenpanorama and it wasn't too pricey either.
(ps - there is an outside store where you can leave your ski equipment so you don't have to take it up into the hotel)
