Yet another wonderful stay at the Eggerwirt. This was our 11th year, and it is still a lovely hotel. Claudia makes you feel at home, staff so friendly and cleanliness is spot on. The chef produces some fab meals never getting the same meal twice.

We stayed in the Eggerwirt in January 2010 for a week. All our party loved Soll and the Eggerwirt hotel. The staff were very friendly and always took time to have a chat at our evening meals. I’m a vegetarian and enjoyed all the meals although there was never a choice of meals and only two choices for the meat eaters. My girlfriend isn’t a vegetarian but doesn’t like pork, fish or lamb so opted for the vegetarian option several times. However, I think this is the case in all the hotels.

The rooms were a high standard for three stars and kept very clean and tidy. There is a bus ever 10 minutes or so in the early morning that takes you to the slopes but we enjoyed walking several times as it’s only a 10 minute leisurely walk. We also walked backed from the slopes every day so we could have a few drinks and visit one of the local supermarkets which are on the way.

This was my first time skiing and found the 5 day course perfect and would certainly return to Soll in the future. The only issue with the skiing would be that because we went in early January and the resort is relatively low the quality of snow wasn’t great. It only snowed one day at the start of our week and the slopes became a bit icy in patches by the end of the week. This was a bit scary for a beginner like me attempting the red slopes!

I had a great holiday and would certainly recommend the Eggerwirt to anyone. To cap off a great holiday I proposed to my girlfriend on top of the Hohe Salve Mountain and she said yes!

We stayed at the Hotel Eggerwirt in March 2010 for a week for a skiing holiday. The resort of Soll is great - fantastic range of ski slopes, really suited to us as intermediate skiers.

However, we had a mixed experience at the Hotel Eggerwirt. The rooms were fine, and most of the time, the food was good. However, we found the staff really unfriendly - they spoke to you the bare minimum, and certainly never made an effort to smile or chat. They had a real issue with tap water. On the first night, I asked for tap water as I get really thirsty - but we also ordered lots of other drinks, including beer, soft drinks and coffee. They brought me mineral water - and when I queried this, I was told 'we don't make money out of tap water'. So we were stuck with paying 3E per bottle. I thought perhaps this was a Soll thing, but I asked for tap water at all the restaurants we ate at at lunchtime, and it was never a problem anywhere else.

When we were there, there was also a terrible sickness bug doing the rounds of the resort - and at least 7 people in the hotel were ill with it. My husband had it and for 2 days, he didn't make it to any of the meals - but not once did the staff ask how he was.

So, we'd definitely go back to Soll, but not to this hotel - they made no effort to welcome us or to make sure we were enjoying our stay.

This hotel has top quality service and the food was out of this world. Claudia was the best hotel owner we have had on our holidays, she made you feel so welcome. she was always available to talk to at anytime of day.her staff were like one big family (gabbi) the bar lady was brilliant so funny (she dosent work in the mornings) that was her saying as everyone thought they saw her . I give this hotel 5 star ratings the food was fantastic. well presented and plenty of it . there was a good range to choose from.and theme nights were good too (italian) The hotel is well postioned in the small village, very close to the ski slopes. walking distance. It was quite quiet in the night we were able to sleep very well.I would recomend this to everyone. we are going back next year with all family 15 in all . hope she's ready for this . Thankyou Claudia

There was a party of 8 of us staying at this hotel in January 2010. Check in was fuss free and one of our party had a particular bedding allergy but this was taken care of prior to our arrival. The rooms were exceptionally clean, not the largest, but warm with views of the mountains and plenty of storage space. Not all rooms have a bath, so if you require one, you'll need to book a room with one. We didn't hear any noise from the street late at night but our rooms were all at the side and back, so that probably made a difference. There's a lovely little snug off the receiption area with a fire where you can sit and read, have a quiet drink or play board games (kept in a cupboard). There is also a sauna but we didn't use it. The reception area has plently of leaflets giving information on things to do, bus timetables etc. The restaurant/bar was really nice and the food was excellent. Breakfast was typically Austrian, consisting of various breads/rolls, a selection of 3 or 4 juices, fruit salad (sometimes fresh, sometimes mixed with tinned fruit), selection of 2 or 3 yoghurts, tea/coffee, meats and cheeses. There was always something hot as well, which varied from eggs cooked various ways, to mushrooms and bacon. Evening meals were also excellent, typical Austrian soups, a selection of salad and bread plus a main and dessert. One evening there was a dessert buffet - eat as many desserts as you like!! Main was usually a choice of two which you select at breakfast ranging from chicken, lamb, schnitzel, pork, fish and a veggie option.

The ski bus stops right outside the door - literally 10 steps from the front door. The ski room is warm with plently of shelves for boots and racks for skiis etc. It's about 5 min on the bus to the gondola. The hotel is also about 5 min walk from the centre of Soll. We walked back to the hotel most evenings - ski to the bottom of the beginner slope near the main road and it was about 10 mins walk from there with skiis and ski boots.

Soll is part of the massive SkiWelt area - your ski pass will cover about 9 villages but the piste map is not clearly marked. However, you probably don't have to ski the same run twice in a day if you didn't want to. The Moonlight Bar at the bottom of the red run to Soll village is excellent for apres ski - and best of all it's non-smoking. Try the toboggan run from the middle gondola station back to Soll - fairly hair-raising at times but great fun!

We will definately stay at this hotel again - location, cleanliness and food were all great and we found all the hotel staff really friendly and helpful.

Just returned from package ski holiday with directski.com Location perfect for ski bus, it's outside the door! Good location for the shops and bars, near but still quiet. One road back from busy main road, so no traffic noise either. Room was a good size, with plenty of storage space, but very few hangers to make use of it. Clean and warm. Nice balcony but no chairs or table. Bathroom a little tired, good sized bath with as much hot water as you can use. Complimentary shampoo/shower gel and soap only for 1st night, never replaced, but we did have a shoe shine!!!! Evening meals not the best we have had in Austria for a 3*** hotel. Watery soups sometimes cold, too much pork, and all very bland, but it was served with a smile, and we didn't go hungry; certainly wasn't bad enough to eat out. The breakfasts were brilliant, everything you could wish for, and something hot each day. The biggest let down for us was no internet connection in the reception area, had to use Hotel Austria that had a pay-for facility. There is room for it and if customers are paying for it, I can't see why they don't have it. All-in-all though, if we went back to Soll, I would book this hotel again as it was a really good price and served its purpose.
