“Great place to stay with great food”
Reviewed December 19, 2010

We stayed as a group a few years ago. The hotel is in a quiet location but only a few minutes walk from the village centre with its good bars and restaurants. The rooms were very clean and furnished to a good standard.

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The food in the restaurant was fantastic.

There is a ski bus stop outside the hotel entrance so no problem getting to the slopes or the main lift is a 15 minute walk.

I would highly recommend this hotel to groups, couples and families. I don't think anyone can go wrong. A great choice.

really enjoyed our holiday in soll, the hotel and our room was really very comfortable, we were in the annex on the top floor and our own big balcony Room was really big and very comfortable. The main hotel was very nice. Staff very helpful and the waiting staff in the restuarant were very polite and looked after us very well. The food was excellent and we had such a good choice. We did not have one bad meal. The pool area was very nice and did not get overcrowded. Nice place to go after a walk for a swim. Been to Soll before a few years ago and will certainly return to this hotel when we next go to Austria. Could not fault it.

My wife and I stayed in the hotel for a one week holiday at the start of September. The hotel is located in the lovely village of Soll and is well equipped for skiers in winter and walkers in summer. Rooms are good sized and very clean. The restaurant food is excellent quality with a mixture of Austrian and international cuisine.

The only downside was that dinner in summer was quite early (6.00 - 7.30pm) and the reception was sometimes unstaffed during the daytime.

I took my wife and her mother (80-yr old) for a week's walking holiday in July. Two days rain but that didn't spoil it. The Hotel bedrooms are cleaned early every morning and beds made. Breakfast is help-yourself and is mainly continental (cold meats, cheeses, fruit, jams, many types of bread) but also fried bacon, scrambled or boiled eggs as well. As much as you want of everything.
The main lift cabins ( a bit expensive - 15 Euro each)) are only 5 minutes drive away and take you up to gorgeous views of the mountains.

Herr Joseph at reception was extremely helpful with information about where to go and what to see.
The man overseeing the dining room was strict about smart dress at dinner (trousers full length and dresses etc). The House red wine was a little thin but ok. Food and service was excellent; Heidi, Sandra and Georg were very efficient and friendly.

The village was near and had all types of shops - good rolls to take for lunch and cheap as well.

Only downside: The village church bell rings 3 x 26 times at 6.45 am and the main road, about half mile away had lorries which were a bit loud at times.

All-in-all a great time and altough Soll is similar to other villages in the Tirol, lovely nonetheless.

Having read some previous reviews after having already booked the hotel, was really suprised at how lovely the hotel was. If you want a modern hi-tech hotel this is not the place for you, but if you are looking for a clean, very comfortable hotel with god food this is just the spot. We found the owner Josef and his staff to be considerate andvery helpful. We also found the other guests at the hotel very friendly, all willing to share tips and advice.

The Hotel is in a wonderful position, just a short stroll to the centre of Soll, and with fantastic views in all directions. The free local buses make treavel in the local area very easy and would definitely recommend a trip on the gondoler/cable car, which was fantastic.

As we were lucky enough to have lovely hot summer days, we also enjoyed the pool area, with comfortable sunbeds and umbrellas supplied.

This was my first trip to Austria, it will definitely not be my last, and would most certainly recommend the Hotel Tyrol.

The good points are that the hotel is clean and well presented.Everything is too much trouble for the staff they are abrupt and unhelpfull. The food is acceptable but the breakfast is a bit of a shambles always running out of food and having to wait for it to be topped up.There is a large flask for the hot water to mash tea but of course it is not very hot so the tea like everything else is nor very warm. The evening meal is available from 6 to 7.30pm but the english TV is always turned off at 6.12pm more subtle than using a cattle prod. The best part of the stay was seeing the hotel in the rear view mirror as we drove away

My first impressions of the hotel were great but as the week went on my friends and I became less and less satisfied with the place.

The room were very clean, not modern but clean which is all I'm ever after. The room tidied every day but for a 4 star hotel you would think that they would have changed the bedsheets at least once but this didn't happen. I also expected shampoos and soaps in the bathrooms but that wasn't the case.

The restaurant started off great. As we didn't arrive until approx 9pm we were still served dinner and thought the food and service was great. Their soups were amazing but mains got boring, meats changed every night but it was the same veges and the same gravy.. I would have liked simpler food like a spag bol or something. The service we received from the wait staff did always stay excellent.

My partner and I did get a bout of gastro but not sure if it was a bug or from something we ate at the restaurant as we shared our meal and got sick at the same time. We just thought that it was a slight coincidence that 2 tables up from us had the same symptoms but on different days.

The hotel is far from the gondola but we expected that. There is a ski bus but doesn't run very frequently on Sundays but a taxi to the gondola is only 6 euros.

Overall it was an average stay for a 4 star hotel.
