“End of season break”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

Just returned from Chalet Mounty first time back on skis for 13 years and was very happy with our choice of both resort and accommodation.
The Chalet was pleasant and well kept by the Crystal team it probably could do with a good makeover as its a little worn around the edges.
The room was clean and well maintained, the staff as a whole were very pleasant and always chatty and with a smile on their faces.
The food was always hot and well flavoured combined with good atmosphere and good company it resulted in a pleasant week for all..
The Chalet is a good 10 minute walk from the lift and ski garage but this was quite pleasant as you could hire storage at the ski hire shop/garage and so were not carrying the skis (result)
Overall the resort was good the accommodation was v good and the skiing was Brilliant despite being so late in the season.....

We stayed here back in very early January 2013. Upon arrival the chalet hosts appeared to be not all that organised but we were soon shown to our rooms. Our room was on the top floor and looked over the entrance of the chalet - we were not affected by any noise as I notice a few of the other reviews have advised.

Rooms:
The room was basic but comfortable and about right for the price paid. Upon arrival it was very clean and a cleaning service was available if you wanted. Shower doesn't look powerful but it is actually far better than expected up so do not feel too disheartened when you see the shower head, the water pressure and heat also kept constant through peak shower times (which was brilliant as it often hasn't in many past chalets). Heating was always at a nice temperature, we were never too hot/cold. The only thing missing was a safe in our room, so if this is something you wanted then it may be best to enquire - however we had no issue with this at all.

Meals:
Breakfast was cereal, toast or a differing hot option each day, afternoon tea always produced brilliant cakes and there was a three course meal every night. The chef did a fantastic job during our stay and there was a variety of different foods each night, no repetition at all and something to suit everyone. Kids and vegetarians too etc. Wine was served all through the meal with free replacements. When the meal ends it goes back to bar buying for drinks (v.reasonably priced).

Communal/Chalet overall:
The communal area of the chalet was very clean and had a TV, bar, lounge area and games if you wanted. The bar was reasonably stocked and prices with a variety of snacks and drinks, their only ask was that no personal alcohol was consumed within the communal area, it was preferable of it was purchased from the bar. There was free Wi-Fi available which worked throughout the whole chalet. The chalet staff were very friendly when approached but otherwise were not overly interactive. All in all we really enjoyed our stay at Chalet Mounty and were very happy with the price paid. We would stay here again if we were coming back to Söll and felt it was value for money.

Location:
We are a younger couple and so enjoyed the walk (maybe 10 mins) to the ski storage and lifts but it is a nice walk through town so if you like the fresh air to waken you up before the days skiing then this should be no problem. Alternatively there is also a shuttle bus service through town to the lifts/gondola but we cannot comment as we did not use it.

Ski storage:
The chalet also arranged for free ski storage in 'The Garage' which is directly under one of the ski hire places so thats a big plus as you don't have to carry your skis everyday. It requires a pass to get in (supplied by Crystal at Chalet Mounty) but beyond this there were no locks for skis internally. We were not personally too worried by this as had hired skis from the same place but if you have your own it might be an idea to take a bike lock/chain if you are bothered.

Söll and Chalet Mounty are well worth a visit and for a lower priced chalet we would definitely recommend them.

Just returned from an excellent half term week at Soll with my son staying in the Chalet Mounty ran by Crystal. Soll is a great village with a good mixture of Austrian charm and the SkiWelt is superb which, despite my concerns over low altitude, had superb snow and ski conditions. The chalet is about a 10 min walk into the village or you can take the frequent, free ski bus which stops right outside the chalet. The bus can get busy at peak times but as Mounty is at the start of the route then you can always get a seat- just stay next to the doors for exit.

Chalet Mounty exceeded expectations and the Crystal staff did a great job looking after us. We were in the annexe which has only recently been built and was to a very good standard although there wasn't loads of space- but enough for the two of us. The bathroom was great with an excellent shower and floor to ceiling drying rack which was ideal for drying ski clothes. The room was more than adequate for the amount of time we spent in it.

The food was good and plentiful- there were a complete mixture of kids from 8 to 18 along with families and I didn't see anything but empty plates from the 3 courses served every night. The Crystal staff were willing to cook kid's meals in addition to the normal menu but I don't think anyone took the option. Can't fault the food or the service.

We met some lovely people and had a wonderful time at the Chalet Mounty- I'd not have any reservations about coming back.

Chalet Mounty provides comfortable accomodation, the staff keep it very clean. Food basic but good. We had a fabulous week, walk to 'ski garage' was fine, bus also an option though could be crowded. We expected basic accomodation and Chalet Mounty exceeded our expectations. Only complaint was the heat but we only let the staff know this on the last night - I would take some cool clothes for the evening. Room spacious and comfortab le, plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Staff very friendly. We travelled with a large group, mixture of adults and teenagers and it worked well for all of us.

Room Tip: Rooms with a third bed were more spacious, we had one of the smaller rooms (9) which was still fine...

Just returned from 1st ever chalet holiday. Went with some trepidation due to previous reports however felt we were in a completely different chalet! The room was a good size, clean and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Towels were changed as and when requested and we genuinely had a fantastic family holiday. There isn't TV so if your family are tv adicts, take some DVD's as there is a big screen and DVD player. It was our 6 year olds best holiday ever however she did fall in love with Ash, one of the chalet boys and he was very kind to her and didn't let on that she was a little young for him! There isn't a ski storage so you get a ticket to the garage at the base of the slopes if you want to leave your skis there. We ended up not using it as it was easy to pop on the ski bus which took you to the base of the gondola. It was my husband's birthday while we were there and the staff made a cake, sang happy birthday and cooked what he wanted for breakfast. If you want something in the chalet, just ask, there is a good chance that they will make it happen. Not sure what people normally pay in terms of drinks in a chalet however we didn't think that 2.50 Euros for a beer or a massive glass of wine was expensive.

Room Tip: Rm 6 on the first floor, we had internet access and the room was a good size with Austrian twins and...

A comfortable chalet but a little dated . Downside was the 20 minute walk into town & to the lift station. However, the staff were amiable & cleanliness throughout was of a high order. Meals were sufficient, varied & of very good quality.

Overall it was value for money.

i have been skiing many times, and really enjoyed my experience at the chalet Mounty. Food was fantastic only problem for me was portion sizes were a little small. Location was a little hard to find when trembling back after a night out but not too far. rooms were spacious and everything was clean. Cleaners did a great job everyday! as the Chalet Mounty doesnt have a boot/ski room you get to use the Garage at the bottom of the Gondola for free which was fantastic (great if you have kids). Night skiing / Nightlife / Apres Ski was brilliant. and Entertainment for both adults and children from Crystal was great. Thanks for a Great Holiday.

Room Tip: any room with bath/shower was a bonus as we got a table aswell
