We opted for the cheese fondue, served with a hearty salad, crusty bread bits and fruit (not sure if the fruit was for dipping or just a dessert), which was really tasty. However, a couple of things disappointed. One was the incredibly smoky atmosphere as soon as we entered. The eating area was not sectioned off from the bar area, so it still smelled pretty strong - our clothes and hair still reeked after walking home. The other thing was the service, which seemed a bit surly. When asked what we wanted to drink, we asked for tap water. The waitress replied "we don't do tap water...unless you buy wine". Other restaurants in Söll were happy to provide tap water, and we've never had any issues elsewhere in the world, so we were surprised to be met with this attitude here. Service after this little incident was without a smile. It was also noted that the table next to us received a top up basket of bread without having to ask for it. We were not even asked if we wanted any more bread. Perhaps we upset them by asking for tap water, but in our opinion this is not a reason for the level of service received. Plenty of other places in Söll do fondue, and I'm sorry to say that we will avoid Dorfstub'n next time.
