Don't let a "3" dissuade you; my rating scale: 3=meets expectations, 4=exceeds. I rarely grant 5. Based on previous experience with similar establishments. Nothing wrong with a joint meeting your expectations, eh?
Anyway, the bbq meat selection is really good. Lots of selection; I recommend the variety plates - chicken, sausage, brisket, pulled pork. The sides are tasty, if a bit quirky. The baked beans are firmer than most, and of a different type than the standard non-descript brown pellets in the usual can.
The service is OK, with little table service. I think their traffic is too low to support more staff.
The beer selection is quite limited.
The joint is nothing fancy with a street-front ambience and low cost furnishings and decorations, right on Main Street, which is pretty deserted on the average week-night in Martinez.
