Hotel Garni Rundeck
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 5, 2013

The Rundeck is a well run Hotel with Klaus, Manuela and their team providing a very friendly and personal welcome. The hotel is well located close to the ski lifts, railway station and all the towns’ amenities.
The hotel is spotlessly clean with modern rooms and has a well appointed Wellness room which is very relaxing. Would certainly stay again……

I stayed in the Rundeck Hotel for 7 nights from 16-23rd February with my partner. We were away with a group of friends who ski every year and they loved this hotel and resort soo much last year that they decided to stay here again this year. Having only skied once about 15 yrs ago it was an opportunity to start again and have a great holiday with friends.

From the moment we arrived and were met by the owners klaus & Manuela until we left, I don't believe I've stayed in a more lovely, welcoming hotel that made you feel part of their family!

A special mention should also be made to Andrea who went beyond what would be expected and truely was such a genuine and lovely lady that catered to any requests we had. A pure lady!

To make it easy and I want to spend time outlining the hotel I've broken it down into different headings:

ROOMS:

The hotel is very modern and the rooms are spacious, all with balconys. My room 111 had a huge wet room/bathroom with large hot rail towel for wet clothes.

The beds are very comfortable and very warm. We slept with the window slightly open each night. There is a safe in each room too and LCD TV with local TV stations(BBC worldwide only English speaking station)

BREAKFAST:

Excellent, excellent, excellent. Klaus having worked in restaurants in the area for over 20 years you can see he takes pride in providing all guests with a great breakfast. From fresh coffee, cheeses, cured meats and over 8 types of bread to fresh fruit, sausages, scrambled eggs ... I could go on... It was excellent. My favourite was klaus' homemade apple strudel. Delicous!

ATMOSPHERE:

Klaus is very much front of house and loves engaging with the guests. On my birthday, I got presents from him and they sang happy birthday. Personal touch at making you feel welcome is very much at the heart of this establishment. The small bar was perfect for evening pre going out drinks and they even moved furniture to cater for cards night we had. Nothing was a problem and it represents everything that customer service should be! Faultless!

FACILITIES:

There is a lovely sauna, mood room, gym, shower area and very nice ski locker area. Everything is top quality, bathrobes and plenty of towels provided to relax and unwind!

OVERALL:

St Anton is a wonderful ski resort and the Rundeck Hotel rivals any 5 star hotel for faculties and hospitality. Klaus, Manuela, Andrea and all the staff made my holiday and all of us in our group agreed. I will definitely be returning to the hotel in the near future for another wonderful holiday!

I echo the other posters sentiments regarding great hospitality and cleanliness. The location is very good however as a picky traveller there are a couple of things I would have liked to have seen.
1: There are no coffee tea making facilities in the room , although this is available in the small reception area when travelling with kids it's easier to have in room facilities
2: although there is no question of the cleanliness the room itself was rather basic without a comfy chair to sit in other than the chair at the desk- this meant having to sit on the bed
3: wifi was unreliable which having paid for it I did expect it would work.
4: the breakfast was the same daily buffet and there was no option on how you took your eggs. It was scrabbled or boiled served at the buffet. I would have liked the option to have omelette or fried eggs or egg whites!
Overall we had a good stay and I would return although I personally would look at the apartments.

Spent last week at the Rundeck in St Anton while on a ski trip with my wife and son. Couldn't have made a better choice of hotel. It was comfortable, spotless and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The Rundeck is superbly located close to the station and all the amenities as well as the lifts. You can drop your gear in the ski room and stroll the main street for après ski or a meal. The Rundeck were really accommodating to us on our last day when our train was late in the evening after our check out. We were still treated as guests and facilities made available to leave our bags, to ski and to shower. I would return in a flash to the Rundeck and recommend it strongly.

We just spent 9 days at this wonderful hotel with our 4 and 1 year old! The owners & staff went out their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable! They even bring toys up from their basement kids playroom for the kiddos when we hang out at the lobby or over breakfast! Breakfast menu is great too!

Room was always nicely cleaned and immaculate! We are definitely returning when our no.2 is ready for his ski debut!

Room Tip: We had a jr suite which is spacious but would recommend the rundeck apt if you wanna cook or the lit...

So, 11 of us spent a week skiiing and snowboarding in St. Anton staying at the Hotel Rundeck . It was fabulous !

The owner Claus, his wife and ALL the staff were extremely welcoming, helpful, courteous and efficient.

The hotel location is second to none, it's directly opposite the train station making arrival and departure quick and easy. It's set a few metres back from the main pedestrian street making the wobbly , giggling return from Apres Ski safe and easy. A plethora of restaurants are on the doorstep for dinner. The lifts are a few happy skips away too. It's all set up for maximum time on the slopes.

The hotel is extremely well maintained, clean modern and bright. Facilities are great , including boot room & sauna etc. Our room was quiet ,spacious and comfortable with a lovely shower. The bar area was welcoming and Claus was always on hand to top up your favourite tipple.

The breakfast was a real highlight, a wonderful variety , tasty and plentiful. Great care and attention to detail was obvious. Not the usual huge boulder of rubbery microwaved scrambled egg...oh no ....Rundeck makes regularly refilled mid sized portions cooked to perfection, , just like the fruit salad, croissants bread etc.

We all had a great time and would reccomend Hotel Rundeck heartliy to anyone wondering where to stay in St. Anton. Look forward to seeing Rundeck & St Anton again sometime soon !

My family spent two wonderful weeks in one of the apartments adjoining the Hotel Rundeck.

The apartment that could sleep up to 6 people was perfect. It was newly renovated, decorated in a modern clean style. We specifically wanted centrally located accommodation to make getting around the town with our nine year old daughter easier. The aparment's positioned 100 m away from the main Galzig cable car and a similar distance from the Ski Schule Arlberg. It was just off the pedestrian walkway (the Dorfstrasse) and a couple of hundred metres away from the Spar supermarket.

From the start we felt the hotel managers - Manuela, Klaus and Andrea could not be have been more helpful. They recommended a couple of lovely Austrian style restaurants including the 'Fahrner Stubn' (fondue), Arlberger Dorfstubn and Rodel-Alm. The last was the perfect end to our stay. Three of us ordered a Schwein Huxen (pork knuckle) to discover one dish would have fed all three of us. We then tobogganed down to Nasserein as the snow fell gently.

The skiing was great. On arrival just before New Year's Eve, we had lots of snow. The first few days were sunny, but cold enough that the snow didn't melt. We enjoyed the runs in the St.Anton area, with our family favourite being the blue run down into St.Cristoph where we'd enjoy a break at the Hospiz Alm. (The slide down to the toilets was a favourite with our daughter!) During our second week we discovered the delights of Lech and the Weiss Ring - a 22km circuit around Lech, Zurs, Zug and Oberlech. Please note you have to get a bus into Lech either directly (paying Post bus) or from Alpe Ruaz (free ski bus).

The skiing overall was great for us experienced intermediate skiiers. There's not masses of easy beginner slopes into St.Anton. We found the easier blue runs were down into St.Cristoph.

Overall we had a great holiday - we highly recommend staying at the Rundeck.
