“Great service in St Anton”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2012

Five of us spent a week at the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well located, good for ski access and all facilities, has pool , sauna etc and spacious rooms - so different from many French ski resorts. Full range of TV channels including UK. Good internet access. Food variety and quality was excellent - needed some self discipline not to add more calories than had been expended. And the staff were great - made for a really pleasant environment. Gala buffet dinner on Thursday, where the kitchen team had obviously made a real effort. We like St Anton, and wouldn't think twice about another stay at Hotel Arlberg.

Room Tip: The "superior" rooms cost a little more, but are really worth it.

Just spent a week in St Anton skiing and had a fantastic time. Hotel Arlberg is a 15 minute walk from the train station and less than a 10 minute walk from the ski rental shop, ski school and ski lift at Nassereinbahn. The ski lift at the other end of town which takes you to different runs is about a 15 minute walk with ski boots on you but can easily ski there if you start at the closer lift.
The Superior Room was perfect, plenty of room, nice bathroom, complete with a balcony and and amazing view of the mountain. Everything was clean and comfortable with the nice added touch of coat hooks next to the door for your ski gear.
Breakfast had a number of choices while dinner was essentially a 4 course meal with the option to pick one of three mains. Staff were attentive and the food was consistently wonderful. The pool, steam room and hot tub were very welcome after a long day skiing and Martin, the masseuse, is worth a visit if your legs hurt from the ski boots.
Overall, great location, wonderful skiing, lovely staff, beautiful surroundings and good food. Already looking at going back next year with a group.

Room Tip: The superior room is worth the extra amount to get amazing views and extra space

We arrived at the Arlberg at 10am New Years Eve, so we had plenty of time to get unpacked, get to the ski shops & do a bit of shopping at the local 'Spar' & then chill out before dinner.

New Years eve dinner, well, banquet, was excellent. I was a little put off at first as it was a 9 course meal without any choices, with a few items I wasn't too keen to try. But I tried them all & have to say they were excellent.

The hotel did have some entertainment for NYE but we decided to see what the rest of the town had to offer.

& I have to say without a shadow of doubt, that NYE in St Anton is awesome!!

Fireworks going off everywhere, & I mean everywhere (remember to take your goggles)!! Parents & children letting them off down every street, people dancing around them as the explode by their feet, & every other person letting rockets off in the snow drifts!

What an amazing sight it was! Looks like they choose to ignore 'Health & Safety' on NYE?

Overall, the Arlberg is a fantastic hotel, the menu changed every night & the food was excellent, but maybe not quite appealing to children, my daughter did turn her nose up at Rabbit Pate, Venison & Veal. They do have a children's menu if you ask for it.

Breakfast was great, & they will cook you fresh eggs if you ask for them, as apposed to the pre-cooked scrambled egg.

Facilities in the hotel were great, we regulary used the pool & sauna after a hard day on the slopes.

Rooms were clean & spacious.

Might not be the cheapest hotel in St Anton, but we felt it was certainly good value considering the facilities, service & food. The location of the hotel is almost perfect, not to far from ski-school & lifts. And far enough away from the noisy part of town.

St Arlberg is without doubt a fantastic resort & we will certainly return.

This is a virtual ski-in/ski-out location, with just a small street to cross between you and slopes, 3 minute walk to the lift, but you can ski right down to the street opposite the front door when returning, (when coverage is good, otherwise just walk down the path a few yards).

The first thing I thought when we arrived at the Hotel Arlberg in Feb. 2011, was "we nailed it!" It's the quintessential Austrian accommodation, and is about as close as you can get to the edge of the slopes, without being too inaccessible to town.

It's not right in the heart of town, but it's also not at the far end of town either, for us it was perfect, because then the short walk into the town (about 5 mins tops at a stroll) provided a refreshing chance to see things along the way. Sometimes when we stay right in the heart of a ski town, we never get to see the other parts of town ... this way you can. (Also in the heart of the town you often can't get away from constant activity and noise of late-night revellers).

The room was well laid out, with lots of closet space, separate room for the toilet, nice bathroom with good shower, and a balcony. We were on the top floor right under the eaves, it was very charming! The bed was the typical European "double" made of 2 singles ... these days I kind of enjoy that because I sleep better, but 20 years ago, I couldn't understand why they did beds like this. (Personally I think it's a very sensible idea, besides, singles are probably a lot easier to get into the smaller European historic guesthouses and hotels).

Breakfast, as with everywhere I've ever stayed in European ski towns, is fit for a king. Sure, to some of us, eating cheeses and wonderful varieties of cold cut meats is a bit strange for breakfast, but breakfast is a cultural thing everywhere in the world ... there is no normal. Enjoy it for what it is, besides, it's a great skiers' breakfast. Their muesli, natural yogurt, and fruit selections are second-to-none too. And of course, as with any international destination accommodation, there is always a variety of other breakfast items to choose from too.

All in all, we loved this place and couldn't wait to get back to it after a day's skiing. Be sure to take advantage of personal pampering and relaxation facilities at the hotel too (pool, whirlpool, sauna) in the basement.

Ask for a room on the front side of the Arlberg, facing the slopes, it's lovely to lie on the bed after a day's skiing and watch skiers continuing to return (even after dark for those who stopped up the hill a little in one of St. Anton's fabulous slopeside bar/restaurants!) ... it's also nice to hang out on the balcony and watch passers-by in the street.

Room Tip: Ask for a front room, on the street side, facing the slopes.

Hotel Arlberg was a great base for our walking and mountain biking. After a hard days exercise, we were rewarded with excellent quality food- the farmers buffet was fantastic. We had packed lunches that were provided for us which included fruit.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. Cleanliness of the room was of excellent standard.

The hotel is located just outside the village, but it was nice to be able to stretch the legs for a walk after dinner anyway. It was a quiet village, but with good transport links and well marked routes for biking and walking.

Room Tip: The Front rooms have the sun on them and the lower floors have bigger balconies.

We stayed a week at the Hotel Arlberg; staff were very friendly and attentive at all times. Room was spotless but we were in the 'attic' area so headroom a little tight. Meals were adequate but not memorable although the daily salad buffet was lovely. Pool is dull and a little dated but ok for kids to splash about in. Hotel mountain bikes are ok for trips along the river but not mountain biking. We went on guided walks both low and high altitude with Andy ( local mountain guide who is absolutely fantastic ; look him up ) and loved them even though we're only novice walkers. Hired electric bikes from Intersport which was a great experience for a very reasonable price £20/half day. First cafe/restuarant on way into town on left side ( 100 yards away ) also served very good food.
All in all lots to do and see despite initial reservations. Definitely worth the St.Anton walking pass for lifts or combined pass if you want to use the pools as well.

I stayed here, with my daughter for a week. The purpose f the break was to go walking. We bought the week`s cable cars pass, and this was a good investment. With sunny weather we covered most of the high level routes in the region.
The hotel is just outside of the village. We had an excellent room overlooking the quiet street, and on to the mountains opposite . The room was sparkiling clean, roomy, with fridge and welcome bottle of wine, and large flower decked balcony with deck chairs. We thought that the position was much better than other hotels in the village which had a limited aspect.
It is a family run hotel, and it shows. The staff were, at ALL times, welcoming and helpful. With a good breakfast, packed lunch and 5 course dinner, our only expenses were the little jugs of very gluggable Austrian wine which we had with our meals. The tables are well presented, with linen napkins which are folded in a different manner every evening.
The hotel seemed to be full, with families and couples, so the dining room, spacious and set out in different levels, could be lively, but we found that the families were grouped in one part, when we seemed to be in a "British"section, so we were soon chatting to others on adjoining tables.
My daughter found that the internet cafe in the village was closed, and there was no other connection to be had, save that of the hotel. The swimming pool was small, and a bit jaded. There is nowhere outside to sit...but this seemed to be the case in most of the local hotels, This did not bother us as we had our balcony which caught the late afternoon sun, and we were in the mountains every day.
For a walking holiday I would certainly recommend this excellent hotel and region. Transfer from Innsbrook to the hotel, with Ingham`s, was faultless...all just perfect. Go there!
