“Nice hotel closed to cable lift with traditional Austrian atmosphere”
Reviewed February 21, 2012

We are group of 12 men booked the hotel in aug 2011. The hotel Is not cheap 308 eur per nIght. Two guys ordered upgrade room with an extra
200 eur per week and got almost the sane room with a balcony with office view. We would expect lower price for that room
The room are large and mOst of us got separte toilets and bathroom exept one. The tv in the room ate very old and couldn't use a streame because they event didn't have RCA sockets. O would expect hd tv for the price they charged. The cleaning was ok but soups weren't replaced every day.
The food was nice not superb (like laurain hotel in Val Gardena ) with variety of main courses and salads bouffe. The main issue is the prices of water(6 eur per bouttle ) and wines. The prices started at 30 and climed up to 50. We asked if we could bring our own wine with extra pay for opening of it but got refusal answer. we drank only simple water. Breakfast was nice but the dining room is a bit crowded. The spa is very good but personally I prefer hotter water in the jacouzy .
The hotel supply free wifi connection in the rooms which I think is very handy . They also supply the option to keep ski equipment in the store closed to galzig cable free of charge. With VIP card the hotel guests have free access to picaddily club. The stuff in the hotel is very pleasant and mist of them speak English. With minor adjustments this hotel can be a pearl.

We stayed one week, half board with our Ski group from Whistler, BC, Canada. We requested a quiet room at the back with a large sitting area to do our daily stretches before skiing and we got exactly that. Room was clean, lovely, beds were firm, bathroom large, especially for Europe. Maid did an excellent job on the daily cleaning. We ate breakfast and the five course dinner special with our group in the dining room each day. I would rate the food as 8 out of ten with lots of choices and fresh food options. Staff was professional, well presented and very helpful. Negatives - the entire hotel including the dining room and our bedroom was too hot! We turned off our heat in the bedroom and left the windows open during dinner so that the room was cool enough to sleep. I wore short sleeves or sleeveless tops at breakfast and dinner. And the hotel allows smoking in the lobby lounge and bar. Very disgusting smell when you walked through the lobby. Other friends of ours who did not request a quiet room endured loud noise until e wee hours of the night as they were in the front of the hotel or on the side where to path to the main street was. Other negative was that the wine in the dining room is quite expensive. Some members of our group only drank beer for this reason. St Anton is truly a lovely village with delightful people. We hope to return!

Room Tip: Definitely email in advance and request a quiet, non smoking room in the back of the hotel.

A truly excellent place to stay. Rooms were lovely, the food was excellent and the staff outstanding. The hotel is situated in the centre of St. Anton and in close proximity to all the cable cars and gondolas. If we go back to St Antons, I would have no hesitation in staying here again. 10 out of 10!

I feel compelled to write a review about the Grieshof Hotel in St Anton, as I feel that DAGIsrael is spot off.

I would firstly like to point out that I have stayed at the Grieshof Hotel a few times over the last 3 years, and I would not even consider staying anywhere else.

DAGIsrael has stated that the Grieshof "Transmits constantly an Austrian radio station on the loudspeakers in the public areas". I can only assume that he is referring to the background radio in the lobby and the lounge, that perhaps bothers his +65 ears. May I reiterate background? Personally I would be bothered with total silence.

His next unjustified complaint that there is no "Traditional Austrian Cuisine" as advertised. There is plenty of it, but not to the point of overkill. I think that DAG was expecting schnitzel and strudl every day, but if this was consumed on a daily basis, not only would you be bored, but I think you would turn into a schnitzel yourself by the end of the trip (I am not inferring that it is not on the menu, I am simply saying not every night).

The food is devine. There is delicate detail, and the ingredients purchased from the best regional suppliers. One also gets options in the morning as to what evening meal the desire. Normally there are three options, ranging from light fish to a heavier meet dish. There is also a buffet on offer once a week.

The next complaint thet DAGIsrael had was that the breakfast was unimaginative. I am not sure what he was looking for, but there are varieties of hot foods, cold meats, breads, cereals, fruits, and I am sure anything else you may request. They are also receptive to dietry requirements.

Actually, all the staff are incredibly receptive and friendly to everything. They remember me and greet me by name every time I arrive. It is a family run hotel, and your hosts Herbert and Traudl constantly check in to make sure that you are having an enjoyable time, and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. They have many return customers, which is also an indication that people enjoy the experience thoroughly.

It is clean, the service in excellent, the rooms have the Austrian charm but are not overdone, you invariably have an excellent night sleep (unless you have been indulging in some serious Apres ski, in which case this is self inflicted). They also provide you with a pass to leave your skis and boots overnight in the depot. For your tired limbs there is a masseuse on the premises, and also a sauna and swimming pool.

As for the location, it is in the middle of town, but just down the stairs so that you are far enough away from the noise.

The hotel is suitable for everyone as there are couples, families, groups of people, and older people.

I have stayed at 9-10 places in St Anton, and this one is by far the best. It maintains the unique charm, whilst sustaining an unsurpassed level of class.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are looking for a 4 stars hotel which :-
Transmits constantly an Austrian radio station on the
loudspeakers in the public areas.
Which serves a nouvelle cuisine instead the traditional one
claimed in it's advertisment.
That serves a different wines than ordered( I ordered twice a
Schiclub Arlberg 2004 recommended by the hotel, and received
instead a 2005).
That offers an unchanging and unimaginative variety in the Sallade buffet, and a boring breakfast.
You will find all those in Greishof Hotel.
No comment about the room, it was O.K.
