“Topclass newly. Renovated!!”
Reviewed June 28, 2012 via mobile

Since last season the Hotel Valluga has been totally renovated to a lovely Designer Alp hotel!
Feels like home away from home, must try the glögg at Christmas!

We were fortunate to stay in this wonderful hotel for an Easter ski break and were hugely impressed. It has clearly been recently renovated and both the decor and furnishings are of the highest standard. Our family suite was perfect- comfortable beds, plenty of storage space and a luxurious bathroom. The hotel has a superb wellness area- a must after a hard day of skiing - featuring saunas, steam room, solarium and a beautiful relaxation area.
The restaurant was exceptional and understandably popular with a perfect blend of excellent food and superb, knowledgeable service. Whilst I generally make it a rule to avoid hotel restaurants, this was one I would travel to eat in such was the quality of food and service.
The hotel owners were utterly charming and clearly have a passion for their trade. This is reflected in the quality of the staff who were courteous, friendly and helpful at all times. The restaurant staff deserve particular credit for their quiet professionalism - always there when you need them but never intrusive. Just the way they should be and a lesson to many other restaurants.
Our stay at the Valluga was perfect- as was the skiing in St.Anton- and we very much look forward to returning next season.

Room Tip: The family suites are superb - spacious and luxurious accomodation for two adults and two children

This hotel was recently renovated with great attention to detail. The rooms feature unfinished wood and slate accents, double washbasins in the bathrooms, quality bathroom fixtures and door/window hardware, whimsical (but adequate) room lighting, Dux beds with down duvets. There are several comfortable lounges, one with iMacs and another with billiards, and a casual dining area. The wellness area is a treat, with three saunas including a far-infrared sauna (great for detox) and a relaxation area with water mattress chaise lounges and an eco-fireplace. The breakfast buffet was simple but included a variety of artisan breads (gluten free available on request), very nice smoked salmon and deli meats, and fresh fruits and juices. The fried eggs and bacon, usually an ordinary thing, are really decadently good.

We booked a family suite for our kids and an adjacent room for us. I liked being on the 1st floor, easily accessible via the stairs though there is an elevator as well. They provide robes and slippers and REN toiletries.

The hotel is a short walk from the tram and gondola, but they will shuttle you in their van. We rented equipment near the slopes and left it there each night, so did not mind strolling through town at the end of the day. There is a supermarket on the way.

First, they just re-did the hotel so it is physically way nicer than any of the 5 hotels I stayed at in the area. Breakfast and dinner are included, i never made it up in time for breakfast, but dinner was amazing (4 Courses). On top of that, the service was top-tier. We are planning on heading for week 11 of next year.

Stayed here with a friend for a ski weekend in late January and was very pleasantly surprised.

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the central pedestrian area, and compared to everything else we looked at is much more modern and comfortable.

It just re-opened after a complete renovation, and the rooms are very modern and well outfitted....dux beds, radiant heating, one of the top 5 hotel showers I've ever had, free wi-fi, etc., It also has multiple living rooms providing options for hanging out beyond your room, with couches, pool table, and so on..

And on top of all of that, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and make it feel more like you're staying in a friend's place than a hotel.

I hope to have a chance to go back again

My wife and I stayed here the second week of January 2012 and it was a wonderful and amazing experience. The new owners, a Swedish couple who also run two renowned hotels on Mallorca (Espléndido and Portixol) have renovated the hotel completely last year in a very cosy style. The intimate Valluga Hotel (8 suites, 13 double rooms) is run by a great staff, half Spanish and half Austrian/international. The atmosphere is simply unique. A cuisine with Spanish influences and an impressive choice of stunning wines, very luxurious, well decorated rooms, great wellness facilities and the most friendly staff and excellent service you may ever wish. Over the years we have stayed in quite a few (ski)hotels, but this is definitely one of the best. On top of that, situated in the famous village of Sankt Anton, some of the best skiing in Europe is waiting there for you on just a walking distance from the hotel. Simply can't wait to go back!

In the generally overpriced St Anton during the holidays, the Valluga is excellent value. The small number of staff led by Anya (Iris' daughter) are willing and helpful and the unfussy and substantial meals were imaginatively presented and well prepared by a chef who obviously likes his work! Clean and tidy overall with a large and pleasant sitting room to relieve the otherwise cramped rooms on a "bad weather" day, it is a basic, value for money place to sleep and eat well without all the "extras" you pay for but never use!
