“Excellent service and very friendly staff!”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

together with a few colleagues I visited the hotel during a ski week-end in januatry 2013. Even though arrival was delayed to middle in the night staff stayed put and served us a delicious meal. Rooms are very nicely decorated and one of our romms very spacious. We had a half-board arrangement and therfore ate both breakfast and dinner - both very good and enjoyable. The hotel offers a ski shuttle, even though the main ski lift to the slopes is in good walking distance (less than 5 minutes walk). Also ski passes and other services are automaticvally offered by extremely friendly staff.

My husband, myself and 2 teenage sons have just returned form a weeks stay at St Antoner Hof. This hotel was very disappointing with poor service. Despite stating that there is wifi in all rooms when we arrived on saturday lunchtime our wifi was not working. The engineer came out that afternoon but couldn't get it to work. He promised to have someone there on sunday. However when we returned from skiing on the sunday no one had turned up and it still wasn't working. My husband pointed out that he needed it for work and our sons wanted to use it. When we got back from skiing on the Monday it was working. However, this was now 2 days into a 7 night stay.
The service in the restaurant was unbelievably slow. It was generally a 5 course dinner. We would regularly have 2 courses served within 10 minutes of each other and then wait 45 minutes to 1 hour for the next course! They have no idea how to serve in a fine dining restaurant. On 3 nights we left before the cheese course as it was by then so late. The gala dinner on Christmas Eve took 2 1/2 hours to serve and we left before the final course. In the end we had to take card games down to the dining room to pass the time.
On Thursday there was live music. Our rooms were directly over the bar - my head was vertically 6 feet from the band. The noise was deafening. We rang down to find out what time it was finishing and they said 12.30. We complained so they said it would stop at 12. It did stop - only to be replaced by recorded music still very loud. At 1am I put on my skiing hat and some earphones to try and drown out the noise - but I could still sing along to every word being played. Needless to say I was exhuasted for ourt final days skiing. Ths was more like a night club than a 5 star hotel.
The final straw was when we came to check out. There were some discrepancies on the bill (someone else's bar bill) and also some items from the mini bar that were dated for our first day of arrival. We had not eaten these and clearly the mini bar had not been checked before we arrived. When I pointed out that we hadn't taken these the receptionist just looked at me and said "well anyone could say that couldn't they". I was absolutely flabbergasted to be accused of lying over 3 items from a mini bar when the bill for our weeks stay came to 13,500 euros.
I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We have been in St Anton almost every year for the past 12 years and really enjoy the city and surroundings. But both me and my wife agree that its the first and last time we will ever stay at St. Antoner Hof. Firstly, the rooms are quite small - even the so-called junior suite which we stayed in felt very compressed and the bath room even smaller with a poorly working shower. Not at all what we had expected when we saw the home page of the hotel. At night it is quite noisy and the restaurant is mediocre - not better that what we could get on the mountain. We look forward returning to lovely St Anton but surely not in St. Antoner Hof.

One of the best hotels i've ever stayed.
Rooms are spacious, functional and beautifull.
Spa also a must and the massage i received was amazing.
Food is superb.
Staff is super friendly.
If you are going to St Anton don't look any further for accommodation and stay at St Antoner Hof.

This was our third time staying here and i have to say this year was better than ever. The staff are just so friendly and helpfull.

Rooms were lovely and whilst the hotel is slightly out of the centre of town -its only so by about a two minute walk so really not worth worrying about. Anyway they have a very nice complimentary car service to take you where you want in the resort if you need it.

Food was very good although the 8 course dinner can seem a bit much after a full day skiing! No idea why they dont swap that for a simpler menu (that would be quicker to serve.)

All in a great experience and we look forward to returning again.

We have for 5 years in a row held our skiing holiday at St. Antoner Hof.The decoration of the hotel is a mix of old fashioned wood panelling and modern comfort with a very pleasant result. The food is delicious and the staff friendly. It is not only a nice place to stay, but must also be a nice place to work, as the staff is there each year.
Enjoying some spare time - or days not skiing due to too much snow - is possible in this hotel, as the public areas are elegant and nicely furnished with a homely feeling.
Would recommend it to anyone.

In summary, the hotel is nice, the service is decent, and the location quite poor compared to most other hotels in town. Hence, we find that the overall quality is far from the 5-star experience that we had expected (and have been used to from dozens of other hotels). St. Antoner Hof is certainly not worth the almost 1,000 Euro per night we paid for a mid-sized and freezingly cold room with no view.

A few more details in terms of what we liked and what we were not se excited about:
What we liked: Coze fire place in the room, good breakfast buffet,
What we were not so excited about: It appears to be a hotel for families with small kids (very noisy), the rooms are freezing cold unless you light up the fire place, the dinners/serving is slow and the food is so-so compared to how it is being positioned (we;ve stayed at several real 5-star in Austria where the food was truly excellent)

St. Anton city is a lovely spot and one of the best for skiing so we will definitely come back, however it will not be to St. Antoner hof. Instead we recommend cheaper and much better options such as Hotel Post, Hotel Alte Post and Hotel Schwarzer Adler.
