“Perfect accommodation in St. Anton”
Reviewed December 31, 2012

I was snowboarding with a friend in St. Anton, and Hotel Montjola answered all our needs - it's a quiet place, very comfortable, 10 minutes by foot from the lifts. The family and staff that run this hotel are extremely kind and responsive, they helped us out with rides to the lifts everyday, and the food was great as well.

Champagne and canapes, ski and snow, hospitality and hosting - everything you'd hope from VIP Ski and a few added extras to boot.

We were among the very first guests at the Hotel Montjola since its reincarnation as a chalet hotel in the VIP Ski portfolio and nothing disappointed. Excellent five-star, 4-course gourmet evening meals - together with coffee and as much wine as we could manage. Super breakfasts - including cooked options - perhaps a little more fruit (melon etc) might not go amiss - but there was an amply stocked fresh fruit bowl.

We had a room with sofa bed - ample for the two of us - fine for families with young children but would be a squeeze with teens - so recommend own room for older ones. Everything was spotless, beds exceptionally comfortable too. Not the most fanciful or opulent of decor but certainly tops very many ski chalet hotels.

LIfts to pistes or St Anton on tap. Thrice weekly Ski-guiiding , lockers near slopes if you want to leave boots and skis in town. Wonderful hosts - all with a ready smile and a willing hand and of course chatty, sociable and friendly. We didn't need the nanny service but fellow guests who did, raved about the wonderful service and attention to detail. Hot tub, sauna an steam help relax taut muscles at the end of the day and a re a great way of sharing anecdotes of the best runs etc with fellow guests.

It's not often we write such a glowing report but wow we'll be back in a shot - assuming reviews like this don't push prices through the roof!

Just had a very nice stay at Hotel Montjola, rooms and facilities are all to a very good standard, you could tell the hotel had had a recent refit. Food and wine was very nice, plenty of it but again a high standard! But what really made the stay a fantastic one was the VIP staff, they just couldn't do enough for us,a special mention to Tim the manager and Maddie our ski guide for a day, well done to both of you! Thanks for all your efforts

I stayed here the first week of March 2012 for an annual ski trip with six other guys and we were all pleased with the accommodations. The location is not the absolute best--it's a good hike up the hill from the bottom of the resort--but they run a shuttle that goes constantly and is quite reliable. I'd recommend it because the walk can up and down the road can be treacherous depending on the ice; we had a few men down over the course of the trip. As others have noted, this is a family run property that has been here for many years, and it has that kind of feel. It's not sexy and it's not glitzy. The owner is on site and is wonderful, and clearly keeps a close eye on the staff, whom you get to know if you're doing the half board (breakfast and dinner included) as we did. The rooms are not fancy but they are plenty adequate and spacious--with amazing views--and the hotel is quiet. The service was excellent, and they stayed on top of the food and drink at all times. I suppose my main issue would be the food. I guess the way I'd put it is that they do a good job with the food, but I didn't come to Austria for the cuisine in the first place (I don't eat meat, for starters). The breakfast buffet is quite ample with eggs, breads, sausages, fruit, yogurt, etc, and for each dinner you're presented a menu with three or four choices for entrees and a couple each for salads and dessert. They also have a semi-ok selection of wines above and beyond the half board. Probably if i returned my choice would be to stay a little closer to the lifts and eat out, but that's also more expensive and more of a hassle each night than having everything there waiting for you. I'd certainly stay here again and thought it was a very good value.

We were a group of 5 women staying at the Montjola 7.-11.march 2012. Our stay was lovely, the only slightly negative was hard beds and that we would have liked to have a washbasin in the toilet. Other than that, the stay was very good. The food var good, both breakfast buffet and dinner (but there were little cheese left if you had a late dinner). The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. When we had to leave very early on Sunday morning, they happily made us big bags of sanwiches, fruit, jucie and snacks the night before, so we could take with us in the car.

The shuttle service down to the center was convenient, and also that the hotel had an agreement with a sports shop where we could leave our skis overnight. The hotel has a quiet location and we were not disturbed by any party noise.

This hotel is a traditional family run establishment and has been for many years. Having stopped there three times over the years I have enjoyed an good level of service presented in a quiet but efficient way. The food is excellent - breakfast top notch and the restaurant service by traditionally dressed staff is relaxing. I have notice a slight lowering of standards with some people being allowed in in ski wear which does detract from the overall ambiance.
The hotel provides a regular service into town for ski users which removes concerns about the uphill walk from town when you are tired.
English is no problem and even preferred by the Lithuanian staff.

Room Tip: Rooms have a better view the higher up you go. First two floors are below reception.

I had great stay at hotel Montjola. The hotel is little bit up-hill from center. Hotel has continious transportation running to center and the walking makes great evening walk.

The sinners and vreakfasts are excellent. Hospitality is outstanding.
