We have been travelling with Ski-Esprit for about 10 years and seen the company gradually decline. This year we visited the Chalet Adler in St.Anton - one that my wife had been keen to visit for a number of years. This will be our last Esprit holiday and not because we no longer need the child care.
The reasons are that the service, other than child care is poor - Food is not up-to scratch, accommodation is generally dirty and the lack of delegation means that they don't have the ability to buy essential supplies - No coffee for the perculator for days, no apple juice, no honesty bar, no tea spoons, no Rep's turning-up to point you in the right direction for an organised event. Ski-guiding was also very hit or miss and for the first time seemed chargeable for the bus to take you!
It is a shame because Esprit had a niche market and I have long been a great fan, telling everyone I could. I believe the problem is that they have been swallowed-up by bigger companies that don't understand the reason that Esprit could charge a premium. There are others - Ski Famile and Family Ski, who we will now look in to.
Oh and this wasn't just my view, but that of others in the Chalet, as well.
I have to say that Child Care was good and all the staff were very helpfull - unfortunatelly they need strong local management.
