stayed for 3 nights in march 2013. very comfortable room with fantastic views of the slopes. staff all very friendly and helpful - especially Christiana on reception who helped organise things for my son who has food allergies. you wont find a closer ski in-ski out. the food was very nice and plenty to choose from at breakfast. my only minor criticism was the spa area is a bit small and enclosed and being charged for bathrobe and slippers a bit unnecessary. but we had a brilliant 3 days and enjoyed our stay very much.

Excellent hotel, we (me and up to 6 others) have stayed in a number of hotels in Obergurgl. The Alpenland is by far the best hotel. We stayed in the Alpenland twice this season. The food is first class, the staff could not be more helpful and overall great value. A major plus is the Ski in - Ski out availability and the lifts are less than a minute from the boot room. An important factor is that the hotel offers rooms for single occupancy. We will definitely return in December, guaranteed snow as Obergurgl is the highest village in Austria.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent.

I never usually write reviews but feel that this hotel deserves one! An extremely spacious, comfortable hotel, every creature comfort is provided. The staff are remarkably helpful, the rooms are spacious with plenty of wardrobes etc. The food is utterly delicious with plenty of choice, you will never feel hungary! Truely ski in, ski out. you do have to pay for water at the table which might be an Austrian thing but I feel a jug of tap water should be free! Apart from this everything was exceptionally good - not cheap but very good value for what you got. If only all hotels had such polite and helpful staff.

We have just returned from our first Austrian skiing trip (Jan 2013) when we stayed in the beautiful Hotel Alpenland, the hotel was perfectly located next door to an Interski Riml shop which was very convenient for equipment rental on the morning of our first ski day (Chrystal use Interski shops). The hotels location was perfect for ski in / ski out with the ski school lamenting just down a very gentle slop to the rear of the hotel.

The hotel itself was very well appointed with extremely friendly and helpful staff, the most notable thing was the size of the room being 5 times greater than the equivalently priced hotel in French resorts. The food was first class with a 5 course meal every night, the menu was varied and they offered a buffet of various kinds (farmers market buffet, desert buffet etc) a couple of nights a week. The only minor criticism I would have is that the portions were quite small on the fully served nights, this probably says more about my appetite than it does about the hotel though ha ha.

The staff were extremely courteous and helpful, the welcome meeting in reception on our first evening was very nice with champagne served to all guests and speech given in all languages.

The hotel also offers other services such as Massage for tired / bruised skiers, although we didn't use this service during our stay I though it was a very nice touch. There is also a bowling alley (mini Austrian bowling) in the basement on the way to the ski & boot room, the hotel also provides heated boot racks so boots will be dry and warm for the next day. There were no locking arrangements for ski's which we have become accustomed to skiing in France, I can only assume that theft is not such an issue in Austria although entry to the ski & boot room from outside was via secure key code lock.

Overall I would rate this hotel 10/10 and we will definitely be visiting again in the future.

We stayed for a week's skiing in January 2013. We had never been to this resort before. We read previous reviews and some negative ones were clearly talking about another hotel by the same name in a nearby resort called Solden! That seems unfair- this was a really quiet hotel and there was absolutely no disturbance.
The food was very tasty, both breakfasts and dinners, with plenty of choice. Wine by the bottle is v pricey but cheap by the glass. Local weissbeer was lovely.
We stayed in a basic room which was fine and really cosy although temperatures outside were very low.
Staff were approachable and helpful.
We especially enjoyedrelaxing by the wonderful log fire in the bar, and the comfy seating areas where there was always room.
Although, like many hotels in this village, the Alpenland is up a steep hill, we were driven up to the hotel with our skis by the hire shop and as the skiing is literally 'doorstep' we found the hotel really convenient.
We did not use the sauna etc so cannot comment on these facilities.

We had a great week at the Alpenland, and I endorse everything the previous 2 reviews say. The hotel is spotlessly clean, warm, friendly and in a great location for the slopes. The food and the service was faultless. Our room was excellent and it's was lovely to come in off the slopes and be able to have oodles of hot water for my bath. Followed by a really good quality evening meal and a drink in front of the log fire. We will defiantly be back.

This was our first trip to Obergurgl. We chose this hotel on location, price and facilities. The location was great for skiing as the run "Blue 6" is at the rear of the hotel, just a few steps away from the boot room. This is even better at night as "Blue 6 is illuminated for night skiing from the Nedderhutte Apris-ski Party or the ski show on a tuesday evening. The only downside to the location is that it is at the top of the hill but as there is not a lot in the village this was not a problem.

The only facility that the hotel semed to be missing was a swimming pool but the wellness area more than made up for this. This has a steam room, sauna, ice room, relaction beds, etc, etc, massages are also available. There is a bowling ally, darts board, pool table in the lower bar area next to the ski and boot room.

The food is excellent, at the welcom evening it was explained that the head chef had been at the hotel for 15 years. The breakfasts are served buffet style but consist of jucies, fresh coffees, fresh breads, meats, cereals and hot eggs (boiled or scrambled), sausages, bacon and more. The evening meals are of a 5 course format, the main course is a choice of 3 options which have to be chosen at breakfast. Each course was exceptional and perfectly sized so as not being left bloated or uncomfortable.

After skiing there was always a selection of fresh homemade biscuits at the bar to welcom you home.

The room we had was very spacious, large bed, sofa, tv with BBC1 HD, ITV etc. The bathroom actually had a bath and the toilet was in it's own room. The only thing that was missing in the room was tea and coffee making facilities.

We will certainly be returning to Obergurgl and to the Hotel Alpenland.

Congratulations are thankyou for a wonderful time.
