Quality hotel with excellent access to the ski lifts which are next to the hotel and you ski back to the door. Food very good and excellent spa but the swimming pool a little on the small side.
Slopes are excellent particlarly late in the season due to the height of the resort. Obergurgl perhaps lack a little charm and very quiet, however the Nederhutte (about 250m up the mountain) is great fun with a live band for some Apres.
Will go again if skiing late in the season, can get very very cold in January.

Plus points;
Food very good, Spa amazing but don't be surprised by the nude policy in the sauna area!, they actually have signs saying 'no costumes or swimming shorts' and the Germans will complain if you don't comply!(towels ok).
The location is fantastic with the ski lift literally out of the hotel boot room, so hassle free compared to the trudging around with boots on that you often have to endure.
Rooms were pretty good, clean and decent size with reasonable tv range and wi-fi.
Bar prices not cheap, but in Austria you have to expect that!, bottle of reasonable wine about £25 and up and a large beer about £4.
Very good restaurant staff and mostly excellent service
Negatives;
Rooms at the front are noisy early morning (bin lorries etc)
Still allows smoking in the bar, which most other Hotels have now banned(maybe positive if you smoke!)
No afternoon complimentary buffet, which a lot of similar hotels now offer(ie coffee & cakes)
Wi-Fi system is a pain, everytime you log on you have to enter a username and password unique to each device, this meant with 2 iphones and an ipad, we had to keep referring to 3 tickets all the time!.
Beautiful main fire place but usually just smouldering for some reason.
Bit of a lack of atmosphere in the afternoons compared to other hotels maybe because of the lack of a buffet as previously noted?
Bar staff a bit slow on taking orders when seated in the 'comfy area' rather than at the bar

Overall you will love this hotel but it could be even better very easily!!

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have views straight up the mountain, floor 2 gives you direct access to the spa...

Super hotel which I would highly recommend. It has direct access to the ski lifts and really is a ski in and ski out hotel. The staff are very friendly and competent. The hotel has excellent Spa facilities. I am a return visitor to this hotel and hope to return next year.

Room Tip: Choose a south facing room with balcony.

This is the only hotel I've stayed at in Obergurgl and there may well be others that are even better; but really unless you have very specific requirements then you need look no further than the Edelweiss & Gurgl for a practically perfect base for skiing. The location can't be bettered for convenience: if you need to rent skis there's a place to do that right next to the hotel's own ski room which in turn is a few steps from the two main lifts in the centre of the resort. The bedroom we had wasn't huge, but had good built-in storage and a small entrance lobby so it worked fine even with all our gear. The food and service in the restaurant were consistently excellent throughout our one week stay. The only small fault we could find with the whole experience was that the wifi in our room was a bit iffy (router conflicts, rather than a signal strength issue), and slow in the late afternoon when everyone is back from the slopes and trying to get on their email. Overall though, a very professionally run hotel which exceeded our expectations in practically all departments.

Having just spent our 3rd time at the Edelweiss (27.01-03.02) we have to say again what a good hotel this is.

Many reviews say about its location, the quality of food and of course the staff. All I can say is all of these topics are very good and the hotel really deserved to be recognised for this....well done team.

As this is our 3rd time we did feel that there are a number of things that the hotel just need to focus on to keep making this a well worthy hotel. The hotel in general is very hot, although this seems better than our last trip. We had 2 rooms during our stay and both our rooms suffered with the shower going hot/cold at peak times of the day.

This time around we drove from the UK (would recommend this to any one close to the channel) on arrival there was some confusion with our room type given, to that expected, it was an equal measure of confusion on both sides, and whilst the hotel couldn't move us to another room (fully booked) they did put the customer first and gave a satisfactory resolution.

Whilst this is an expensive hotel I do feel its worthwhile. The only things I think they could do to improve and keep ensuring this is really the best hotel is, tea/coffee facilities in room, more vegetarian options (or at least make veggies aware chef will do requests) and a night porter.

I hope the team at the Edelweiss keep striving for the good and don't think that they can rest as they are keep pushing for top quality. Will be back again for sure.

Well done and thanks for another great week.

Room Tip: South facing is slope facing. Don't think that all suites will have slope view...they don't...

Lovely Hotel with an almost perfect location. Walk out of the Boot room and the Gondola is right in front of you and you can ski back down to the steps of the boot room! The Facilities at the hotel are great, Lovely Spa, Fantastic restaurant, Attentive, friendly staff and a large heated boot room with your own ski and boot space. Our room was spacious but a little tired. I think that could be said of the whole hotel in that it needs a little upgrading but i would recommend the Hotel especially for couples. The resort is pleasant, my only criticism is that it is very quiet. Only 2 Bars in the whole town. If you walk out of the hotel after 11pm you would be luck to see another person! Solden is a 20 min taxi ride if you wanted the night life. Good Skiing, great snow, the resort is very high so can get very cold.

We have been skiing for over 20 years and for the past 6 years have been skiing as a family. The Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl was absolutely amazing, we could not recommend it highly enough! Their motto on tripadvisor was that kids are VIPS. This certainly was true. Our eight year old daughter adored it and she went to kids club every day from 3.30pm - 10pm which included a supervised mealtime. They had great activities, including tabogganing and ice skating! She made lots of friends and the club staff were so good. The hotel itself was so central. The gondola and chairlifts were right outside the hotel door and it had its own ski hire shop on site. And its own boot room you could practically ski in to. The food was fantastic. 6 courses per night and presented in nearly a fine dining fashion. The staff were second to none. The leisure club and thermal spa areas were second to none (when you got over the compulsory nudity bit ;-)) and were all free of charge. Inghams office was also on site at the hotel. We met some lovely people and had some great skiing. We couldn't have asked for any better.
