“Perfect Winter or Summer”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

We stay in the Alpenland in the winter for skiing and in the summer for just relaxing away from it all. An easy-going home from home, we have just booked 9th stay there. Good sized rooms, some have shower/baths and some have only showers, so when booking just ask Mira or Herbert for your preference.

Step out of the boot room and you are a few steps from the slopes and the first lift. The ski area (the area your lift pass covers) has just been enlarged with the addition of a new gondola at Auffach and now has 145 km of ski runs.

Food is always good with a large buffet breakfast, a choice of 3 course evening meal, the hotel even has a lunchtime self service restaurant for busy skiers, and being Austria it is very good value.

Summer is on the whole a quieter affair, the hotel being mainly used for coach trips but nonetheless a relaxing quite hotel. Twice now we have stayed in the summer and been the only guests for a few days!

Looking forward to getting back there on the 12th Jan 2013!!!

Stayed for a week here over new year. We are no strangers to Niederau and chose this hotel as it was exceptionally good value and we knew we would be right next to the slopes. A truly ski to the door destination. Rooms clean and a fair size. In our experience having stayed at two other establishments, rooms in Niederau are very much the same. The food was nice and plentiful but breakfast selection could be a little broader. But it's the location of this place that just can't be beaten. We love Niederau but would like to keep it a secret because for us it's just perfect the way it is and don't want it to become commercialised. It's just charming the way it is.

Just returned yesterday from our first skiing trip. I cannot fault this hotel, the food was fantastic, the rooms more than adequate and the staff so welcoming and friendly. The ski school is literally at the back door and the hotel is well situated in the village. There's a supermarket within 10 minutes walk and a bank literally over the road.
We had a room on the top floor with a beautiful view from the balcony right down the valley, the hotel is warm and cosy, particularly when the temp is well below freezing. The button lifts and gondola are only a couple of minutes walk from the back door where there is a heated conservatory where you can have a drink or food without having to remove all your ski gear.

Our only problem was the airport at Innsbruck being snowed in on our return home and having to transfer to Munich which was a long and tiring journey but we are undeterred and will b back next year.

Hotel Alpenland is a lovely comfortable hotel. It has a welcome homely feel and is in a perfect location for the ski schools. We stayed on the top floor and had a balcony and two rooms which was great as we had our two boys with us. The room was very basic and the bathroom was tiny. The water temperature was also very hit and miss which was a bit of a problem with small children.
Our experience with the ski hire shop was excellent and we were there on a busy Christmas Eve.
The food at the hotel was good with plenty of choice. One habit which was picked up on by the chidren was the fact that the waiters whisked away your plates while the others at the table were stil eating.
We stayed there as part of a package with Neilson skiing and we were very impressed by the company and Martin the rep in particular.
This was our first family ski trip and it has made us start to save up immediately for our next one.

A nice hotel in a good location. It was so much fun (& convenient) to be able to ski right back to the hotel :) The restaurant food was good & service was good too. The ski school looked after kids really well. Only down point about Niederau was the ski/boot hire place was a nightmare!! It took hours for us to get kitted up because queue's of people turned up and they didn't have enough staff to cope. Didn't spoil the holiday though :D

We choose this hotel because of its "ski to door" label in the Nielson brochure - I didn't expect that we would literally be able to ski to the door, but I was wrong!

The ski school, main nursery slopes and lift are right next to the outdoor bar area at the back of the hotel and you can actually ski right up to the steps leading to the ski/boot room.

The hotel is fairly basic, but it was clean and the staff were all friendly. We were half-board and as I had expected the food to be average at best, I thought that we would eat out a couple of evenings elsewhere. However, whilst the food was a long way from being gourmet, it was very good traditional home cooked food, e.g. goulash, pork schnitzel, roast chicken, so we ate in the hotel every night. The only gripe about the evening meal was that it was served between 6pm and 7.20pm, which is a little early for us, but we got used to it - the skiing and fresh mountain air probably helped make us ready earlier!

Our room was on the top floor and had a balcony with views across the town and towards the ski slopes. Again it was basic, but was clean, had 2 rooms to it (a bedroom and a lounge area) and the beds were very comfy.

We are thinking of returning next year.
