“Great hotel for good money”

I love Ischgl and try to go skiing over there at least once a year. Trofana Royal is considered to be the best hotel in the area. I was staying there few times. I have to say that Post hotel is absolutely not worse than it but with price 2-3 times less, great food and really very friendly staff.
Moreover the location of this hotel is much better - just a hundred meters from tunnel to the slops. Trofana is 3 hundred meters from main tele cabin with huge lines in the morning.

A very laid-back atmosphere in the hotel itself, very good apres-ski, excellent breakfasts with a wide variety and great dinners. The rooms are designer-quality, with a spacious bathroom and big balcony. The inside pool is very well taken care of, as is the SPA, with snacks and refreshments.
The service is very kind and helpful.
A great location, just 5min walk to the nearest ski lift, and with nightlife spots all around you, including in the hotel!

Truly a great experience. If skiing, I recommend Intersport Brundl for ski rental, which is just across the street.

Awesome location right in the centre of Ischgl. This hotel is buzzing in season and is ideally situated for both ski lifts and nightlife. The rooms are well equipped, clean, and spacious and the food is very good too. There's a nightclub beneath the hotel which is very busy Friday, saturday night and full of great ski/boarder guys and gals; great fun with great music. Although in the centre, the rooms are fairly quiet too.

Room Tip: Get on the top floor if you can, it's quieter

What a “fab” week in the Hotel Post and Ischgl. We returned on Saturday (very reluctantly) from a week’s holiday here, it was fantastic. Quite how anyone can criticise this Hotel beats me. The Hotel is lovely and the staff impeccable. Our room was great too, traditional style. with a separate living area, bedroom, bathroom, toilet and balcony, great to have so much room and it was spotlessly clean. It was interesting coming back to see what creation had been made out of the duvet each day, very imaginative! All the public areas were just lovely too and again very very well kept. The Hotel was admittedly quite quiet during our stay and so we were not bothered with smoke (as previous reports have complained about) at all. Breakfast was lovely with the usual Austrian spread, this is the only area which I would have a little negative point, the fruit salad didn’t seem to be very fresh and the workstation where we got hot breakfast prepared wasn’t just too well attended and looked after but this was nothing major at all. All the waiters and waitresses were so pleasant and first class at their jobs, I am always amazed how easy they make it all look when I know it wouldn’t be. The evening meals were to die for, I am a vegetarian and the catered for me very very well.

The swimming pool, spa area was very nice too and the “quiet room” bliss! Did miss a Jacuzzi though!

Ischgl itself is a great area and we have just scratched the surface, we hired mountain bikes for 2 days from the Intersport opposite the hotel. Then spent the days going up the cable cars, lifts and then enjoying coming back down! The Silveretta Pass (which the Hotel Post include for 5 days free) is brilliant, access all areas with it, buses and also it gets you into through the checkpoint up to the lakes (this we learnt after we paid the fee!). We have been lucky enough to have had a few holidays in Austria and the Silveretta Pass has been the best to date, in others you are only allowed one trip a day and no bikes.

We hired a motorbike for one of the days from the Test Centre which is very close to the Hotel, we had a fantastic day touring, over the 32+ hair pin bends, then on to Lech, St. Anton, it really was quite a buzz and a great way to see the country. You then give the test centre your feedback on the bike you test.

The other days we walked to Huttes in fantastic weather, never fails to amaze me the standard of meals in these remote Huttes, we struggle to get this standard on the high street!! So you can take from this that we loved it all and will be back.

Spent a week at the Hotel Post in August. Although we made a late booking, our room was far superior to any we have used during many visits to Austria & Italy: Clean, plush carpet; spacious bathroom with double washbasin; walk-in wardrobe with automatic light; perfect reading lamps....Our only criticism was that our room was in a corner and shared a balcony. However, there did not appear to be anyone occupying the other room during our stay.
The reception staff were professional & friendly, always greeting us as we passed by. A nice touch is the provision of free bottles of mineral water on the reception desk - useful to take on a walk.
The restaurant was superb. Delicious meals were served promptly (we were impressed that they never needed to ask which of us was having which dish!), with the waiter giving a brief resume of the main ingredients. The waiting staff were friendly and proficient in serving German, English, French and Italian guests with equal consideration. A real bonus was the arrangement for the free packed lunch (an entitlement with Inghams). Rather than the usual couple of cheese & ham rolls, we were provided with a carton of squash, a waifer and a piece of foil and plastic bag. We were therefore able to make up our own rolls from the extensive selection of breakfast meats/cheeses. This prevented waste, as we just made up what we would need. Why can't other hotels adopt this practice?! There was such a lovely selection of rolls and breads that we felt the 3:50 price for purchasing a lunch would have been excellent value.
We enjoyed our drinks in the bar. The prices were quite high, but only to be expected in a hotel of this quality. The bar is spacious, with many different areas, and we were never aware of anyone smoking. As non-smokers who visit Austria & Italy fairly frequently, we realise that the attitude is different to that in the UK, and have had many an early-morning dash to close our door due to someone smoking on a nearby balcony - a pain when you've come to the mountains to enjoy the air!!! In this respect, the Hotel Post is no worse than any other.
The hotel has an attractive indoor pool and extensive spa area.
In addition to providing a "welcome drink", the owners - the Wolf family- spent time in the bar and restaurant speaking to guests and ensuring that all was OK. They clearly care about their business and the comfort of guests whereas many hotel owners remain behind closed doors.
The hotel is a 5 min walk from the cable-car station from where you can travel on a series of cable-cars (one being double-decker) and chairlifts into Switzerland.
The only thing we grumbled about on this holiday was the predominance of mountain-bikers on almost all the walking routes; Ischgl seems more accommodating to bikers than walkers.
Compared to other 4-star Austrian hotels, we feel that the Hotel Post really ought to be awarded 5 stars. If we can face the mountain-bikers, we will certainly return to Ischgl and the Hotel Post.

This Hotel has no respect for non - smokers BE WARNED
The large Lounge - Bar is all smoking and you have to walk through it to get to the Dining Room.
When asked for provision to avoid the smoke from the Maitre d' he laughed at me and told me rudely that it was Austria.
The Law in Austria States that the non smoking Dining Room must be closed off from the smoking area, but this Hotel ignores this Law by keeping the doors between the bar and dining room open all the time people are eating.
Also the Maitre d' serves and clears the tables by stretching across diners without any manners.
All drinks including tap water have to be purchased with the evening meal, Tap water is 2.50 euro,s for 1 litre.
When I complained to the reception they were also unhelpful and had no concern for people who do not smoke, this would be hell of a place in winter during the Ski season.
There is no information given when booking in as to any extra charges,
I would not recomend this Hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Look for another Hotel

Be warned - only drink at the bar if you have the correct money. Do not expect any change given for notes. Shame on this hotel - I have never been ripped off in Austria before. Not acceptable behaviour for staff.
