This is not only a stunning location, this extremely friendly and top quality hotel offered the best you could want from it's food, bar, service, spa and accommodation. Highly recommended! We were a large group with a 4 year old in tow and I can't praise the efficiency of the staff enough! Thank you for a memorable stay!

Room Tip: Ask for rear side view overlooking pool and mountains

We went to the Hotel for a "big birthday" celebration, and we weren't disappointed! We had requested a Panorama south-facing room after reading other reviews and the outlook directly over the valley to the mountains was awesome. The room was a very good size with separate seating area, and was kept very clean with a comfortable bed. Wifi worked well in the room and was free. At all times the staff were very attentive and helpful. The spa is something else! - inside and outside pool, relaxation room, spa area with many different options, and other treatments like massage and pedicures available at similar prices to what you'd pay back in the UK. The views from the pool outside were something special and as we were lucky enough to have a good snowfall during our stay it was a great experience. We opted for the half board directly with the hotel... the food level is superb, with 5 courses including a great salad assortment most evenings. We never needed lunch as the breakfast is also brilliant, and towards the end of our week's stay we were actually dropping some courses in the evening because we were too full up - the staff don't mind that as you book in the morning from a menu selection. The village itself is charming with only a few restaurants and bars but a decent sized Spar just down the road for those little extras. It's a great ski OR walking location although the variety of the ski runs may not suit some very experienced skiers. While we were there in early January the resort and ski runs were quiet so there were no lift queues. There is also snow shoeing and cross-country skiing available. We met many English people in and out of the hotel who have been to Alpbach year after year and love the place. Last great touch - fresh soup and cakes for guests in the hotel between 3 and 5 in the afternoon, really nice way to sandwich skiing and the spa!!!

Have just spent a week staying in this hotel. We arrived late at night and were served a cold plate with lots of fresh bread and butter. We were asked what we would like to drink but discovered next morning we had been charged...thought this was a bit petty really.... Our room number 333 was NOT good. In the eaves and very shabbily appointed. On Sunday morning we made the owner aware that we were dissatisfied with our accommodation. No other rooms were available though if we wished to upgrade to a superior room we could for €32 per night. We were eventually placed in a much better room,of the same price range, on Tuesday. The food, staff and restaurant were all 4*... Friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time but feel the hotel gets its 4* status from the spa and sauna which is SUPERB. I enjoyed a wonderful massage and attended a therapy session provided by the hotel. We also had a romantic torchlit walk led by the lovely Lydia.

I've just returned from a five-day stay in the Alpbacherhof. The hotel was brilliant: great food, great location, beautiful views, very clean and spacious rooms, but above all they have the friendliest and most welcoming staff I have encountered. They were always happy to help, and made you feel incredibly welcome from the moment you stepped through the door. My family booked with them through Inghams, but I booked with them directly as I wanted to go for less than a week. They made the whole booking process very quick and easy, and offered great advice on how to get a transfer from Innsbruck Airport. We were all very sad to leave such a beautiful and welcoming hotel, and we will definitely be returning as soon as we can!

Just returned from our second visit to this excellent hotel and whilst I could rave about the top quality food, the amazing spa, the picture book setting, the totally relaxing atmosphere and all that the Alpbach area offers what really makes this hotel extra extra special is the staff - every one of them from cleaner to owner - who just so make you feel welcome.

So till next time - and there will a next time.

Room Tip: The south side of the hotel has the best views.

Just returned from a week skiing. The hotel was fantastic; the staff are all incredibly polite and friendly. The food was outstanding. The spa facilities are great. The skiing area is enlarged with the new gondola.

Highly recommended.

My wife and I have just returned from another wonderfully relaxing stay at this splendid Hotel.

Not only are standards of service superb but the hotel staff are, without exception, dedicated to making guests feel welcome and valued. Nothing is too much trouble. There is a genial buzz about the Alpbacherhof which many hotels lack.

While the buffet breakfast is first-rate with a huge variety of choice, it is the evening meals which are truly outstanding. Inspired cooking of the highest standard, this is wonderfully prepared and presented food to be savoured and enjoyed leisurely and sociably. Fast food to be taken in a hurry, it is most definitely, not.

The swimming pools and spa facilities are outstanding and perfect after a day walking or skiing on the surrounding mountains.

The new gondola lift from Inner Alpbach gives access to the skiing on the Schatzberg – greatly expanding the skiing possibilities.

Although some guests use a tour company, it is easy to organise a visit to Alpbach independently. The Alpbacherhof reception staff all speak fluent English so it is simple to telephone or book on-line.

People arriving at Munich Airport can transfer to Alpbach by train and Postbus. German railways (DB) have a desk at the airport for tickets and advice. There are frequent S8 trains from the airport to Munchen Ost and at least hourly trains to Rosenheim. Austrian railways S1 service will then take guests on to Brixlegg although sometimes a change is needed. Continue from Brixlegg by Postbus (Route 4074) or taxi. The Postbus is free to guests with prior bookings provided that they show the driver the paperwork. Taxis cost about €17. Useful web sites are www.bahn.de and www.oebb.at Both websites have an English option.

Guests arriving at Innsbruck Airport should take the F1 bus into Innsbruck Hauptbahnhof and then the S1 train to Brixlegg.

NOTE: Brixlegg station is currently being refurbished so it is necessary to walk 50 meters to the main road. The bus stop is a short distance to the right from the junction.
