“If you are staying in Zell, this is the hotel for you!”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

The Tirolerhof Hotel is a wonderful place to stay, from the moment we arrived when our cases were whisked to our rooms and we were given a welcome drink, we knew we had chosen the right place.
Our rooms were lovely. My husband and I had a deluxe room which was roomy, comfortable and extremely clean. The bathroom was gorgeous with a bath and separate shower. My daughter had her own room (we requested a single room her but she was given a double room).
All the public rooms were beautiful, the spa area in the basement is lovely and the new fourth floor treatment rooms were stunning.
All our food was very tasty with choices from the menu each day. The food was lovely with the staff providing friendly and efficient service making it a nice atmosphere.
There is a beautiful outside terrace area on the 3rd floor and the garden terrace provides a good seating area if the weather is fine.
The location is Zell is very good with only a couple of minutes walk into the centre. We did not really take to Zell itself (the lake is beautiful) but we did not really find a nice bar to spend our evenings in (we prefer quite cool and trendy bars to spend our time in.) There were plenty to try but we felt that they were mainly café style. We felt that Zell had lost a bit of its traditional feel, although it did try with its concert evenings and market stalls etc.
Anyway, we certainly had a lovely holiday and I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at The Tirolerhof.

Stayed in this lovely hotel for one week, it has a great location near the heart of the town but quiet enough not to be disturbed. the staff are amazing and go out of ther way to be friendly and helpful. There are lots of staff and the little touches they add to your stay make things all the better. for example a printed note in your room about the weather the following day. they produce a hotel newsletter and a national newsletter each morning, free cakes each day at 4pm and cookies as you leave! the rooms are immaculate and there are more towels delivered than you could ever get through there is entertainment in the evening and themed food nights, such as BBQ night and Austian Buffet. Our waitress from Dunkirk was delightful and seemed to know every language. the spa and leisure facilities are top notch although be prepared to sweat in the gym with no air con. all in all i would consider this hotel to be faultless. Some friends visited us from Muinch and tried to stay the night they were so impressed. well done to the owners.

Just returned from a week in Zell am See, Hotel Tirolerhof is underated at 4* superior it should be 6* if there was such a thing. The facilities are 2nd to none and by far the best Hotel I've stayed in anywhere in Europe. Hire a bike from them for 7 euros all day and see the best of the lakeside towns, take the cable car to Schmittenhohe ( buy a ticket at reception before leaving the hotel ) you'll not be disappointed. Make sure you have a waffle at breakfast it's totally divine. Take an extra 100 euros and make sure you use the Spa OMG it's heaven and make sure you use the Pool and Sauna facilities, rela on a waterbed or just chll out in the bar with FREE cake to die for --- it' 1000% worth every penny and more.

I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Zell staying at the Tirolerhof. It was a superb hotel - it was elegant, exceptionally clean and beautifully furnished. The staff were very courteous and there was an emphasis on attention to detail. The leisure facilities are very good as is the beauty salon and the treatments available. The meals consist of five course dinners with two or three choices for each course - every meal was superb and they had 'special' nights - gala dinners, international buffets, BBQ nights etc. The wine was pricey - around 25 euros a bottle but this is to be expected in such a high class hotel. Live music was on a couple of times a week which was a nice touch. When we left we got some goodbye cookies and on arrival home there was a postcard thanking us for staying with them. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

This hotel has had a lot pf positive reviews on this site, but I thought it deserved one more!

As we arrived someone was immediately on hand to help us park and take our bags and while our bags were whisked up to the room we were given a glass of bubbly.

The rooms were large and the bed very comfortable. Amusingly there is a radio in teh bathroom which we got quite used to after a week!

The spa area is fantastic. The pool is large and even has a jet you can swim against or use to massage walking or skiing weary limbs. the floor below has various different steam and sauma areas and really lovely rest areas with huge lounders with waterbed matresses (beware: it's very easy to fall asleep)

The food is very good and surprisingly varied for hotel food (there was even the option of ravbbit one night and chateaubriand (for a supplement) on another. The house wine (also served in caraffes is also excellent). A particular mention should go to the wait staff who were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Every morning, guests get a newsletter with the forecast weather and activities that are being arranged. Every day there was some kind of exercise class like Nordic walking starting at 8. There were also a number of paid excusions to places like the Hochalpen Glacier that you could sign up for.

The hotel has a partnership with another hotel which means that in summer you can share the use of the private (grass) beach on the other side of the Zell lake. You are given towels, loungers and an umbrella and you then get into the lake via a wooden jetty. The water is fairly shallow for a way but wow it's worth it (it was a balmy 25 degress C when we went)

All I can say is - Enjoy!

Have just returned from 2 weeks at this hotel. Had a brilliant time there. The hotel is immaculate. The room we had was of a good size and spotlessly clean. The pool/sauna area is wonderful as is the 4th floor spa area. The restaurant was a bit too warm but he weather had been exceptionally hot. The quality of the food was superb and the service excellent. On checking out it was nice to be given a present of homebaked cookies for the journey and it was a total surprise to find a pestcard from the hotel on our return home thanking us for spending our holiday there.
If we go back to Zell am see we will definitely stay at the Tirolerhof again and I would recommend it to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

The Tirolerhof is a beautiful hotel with good facilities in a convenient setting and the majority of staff were polite and professional. Strong points included the swimming pool area and the Beauty Salon which was world class - thankyou Barbara for the best facial ever. The standard of food varied from average to very good. We stayed here for a week as part of a 4 month tour of Europe and overall were disappointed as our experience was not that of many other reviewers. This may have been due to our age (easily the youngest adults by 20 years) and the only ones with a small child. We felt that our lively 3 year old was tolerated rather than welcomed. The lengthy and formal evening meal was an especially difficult time to keep a small child entertained. We agree with another reviewer that the issue of the water at mealtimes and a number of other items seemed designed to force guests to pay for all the extras. This is the only hotel where we have ever seen a charge for using the safe in your room (1 Euro a day) and the only hotel on our trip so far where we have been expected to pay for some warm milk for our child at bedtime. Everything in the room had a price tag on it reminding guests that they belonged to the hotel but could be purchased from the internet cable and bottle opener in the mini bar to the bath robes. We found this rather insulting. Comfort wise we had a spacious Junior Suite which suited our needs. The beds were comfortable but there was no air conditioning which made the very warm nights quite stifling. We kept the balcony window open but the hotel is in town so was quite noisy until the early hours. Overall we felt that the original charm of a high quality family run hotel was being taken over by a slick business operation which was all about maximum profit.
