Zell is a charming small town which is large enough to give non-skiers, as well as skiers, enough things to do. Friends and I have been very frequent visitors to the Tirolerhof over the last 20 years. When we first went there the hotel had an excellent reputation; and it has only got better every year since. In most years the owners have a substantial modernisation/refurbishment project for some area of the hotel. Food is very good - the breakfast is hearty, with an amazing choice, and the evening meal is a high standard tasting menu (although simpler tastes are also catered for). See the brochure for all the hotel facilities that are on offer but the one I appreciate in particular is the "Wellness" centre/spa with its swimming pool (indoor) and multitude of steam rooms etc. The hotel is located in a quiet side street on the edge of the pedestrianised town centre (shops and bars); and about 300 yards from the square behind the post office, the departure point for the (free - with lift pass) ski buses to the Schmittenhoehe base and Kaprun. The post bus to Saalbach also departs from here but this, and for ski-ing in Saalbach, you need to pay extra (well worth it for advanced high mileage skiers). Go about another 100 yards (uphill!) from the post office and you are at the base station of the CityExpress gondola which takes you up the mountain to connect with all the Schmittenhoehe slopes. The pistes are well groomed. And there are good walking routes at the top of the mountain for non-skiers.

Room Tip: Because different parts of the hotel were constructed (and also modernised) at different times there...

When we arrived,we were greeted with a glass of wine and made welcomed. The hotel is situated only 5mins from the beautiful lake and shops. The dinner meal consisted of 4 courses and was of excellent taste and variety. In the morning, guests helped themselves to a good selection of hot and cold food and were offered tea or coffee. Ther rooms were kept very tidy and the beds and towels were always immaculately arranged for when you got back from the days out. Staff were very helpful and could talk different languages and if you wanted to know what the meal consisted of,they would explain what the meal consisted of. Highly recommend this hotel to stay at.

Room Tip: The rooms on the right hand side of the hotel overlooked a rushing stream running down by the side o...

This is the 2nd time that I have visitei Zell am See. I love this town and its neighborhood. It is one of the most beautiful places for me in the world. The hotel is vey nice, very helpful staff members. There was a welcome cocktail and a nice fire at the lobby. Rooms are extremely comfortable being able to use the Internet all the time. Highly recommended hotel!

This was a very nice hotel. We had a standard room which was a reasonable size with comfortable beds and a balcony.

Staff in the hotel were always helpful and polite.

The food was excellent, with a four or five course meal every evening. Quality was very good and there was also good variety and choice. service was very good and the staff friendly. It was good that a number of he meals were of local nature but there was also more "conventional" alternatives. The house red was excellent and we didn't find it necessary to try anything else

Internet access was free and worked over the whole of the hotel, a very positive feature.

The swimming pool and jacuzzi were nice but the one negative was that the jacuzzi was too cold, to the extent that we didn't use it.

Decoration and ambiance was very god throughout and we enjoyed a drink in the small but pretty gardens

Zell an zee is a lovely location, the walk around the lake is great with fantastic scenery. We also brought the 6 day hikers pass to allow us to use cable cars and buses in the area, which was tremendous value for money. We loved the mountain walks and views, especially those from Kaprun. One great surprise was to find a free mountain guide to escort to take us on a walk. He was waiting at the top of the Maiskolgelahn cable car and took us a lovely 4 hour walk.

We gave it 5 stars but only just - the cold jacuzzi almost brought it down to 4 but the food kept it up there

Me and my Husband stayed here for a week in June and we loved it. The hotel was so clean. The pool and spa facilities where great to relax in after a long day walking up the hills. On your first day you get your own reserved table and that is yours for the duration of your stay. The food was increadible. Four course meal every night with a salad bar to start so you get a good feed. The food is always we presented and there is lots of choice. If you did not like the choices for the main or desert or have an allergy the staff were more than happy to make you up an alternative. Breakfast was buffet style but there was again lots of choice and enough to feed you up till tea time. I really enjoyed the local honey comb. The staff were all really helpful and could not do enough for you. We really enjoyed our stay and will hopefully return someday. The best hotel i have ever stayed in.

Spent the Easter break here so this review write up is a bit late but as this hotel is worth a mention, here it is.

We had a wonderful stay at the Tirolerhof on half board. Check in very smooth - with a nice welcome cocktail. From day 1 you have your assigned table for breakfast and dinner to use throughout your stay.

The food was really good, nicely prepared with an excellent choice of wine. The staff were great and extremely helpful be it in the restaurant or at the bar.

Ski room facilities as you would expect. There is a shuttle bus to the ski lift station but we walked the short distance and it was no trouble. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so we made great use of the pool and spa facilities on hand which were absolutely wonderful. Steam baths, saunas and whirlpools - all you could need after a day on the slopes or just for pure relaxation.

Our double room was spacious and nicely appointed with a balcony and lots of storage space
Generous supply of towels with bathrobes and slippers for attending the spa. Free wifi worked fine throughout our stay.

Would definitely recommend this hotel - warm atmosphere, guests of mixed nationalities and staff that make a difference. We travelled as a couple but lots of families were enjoying themselves here with a lot of repeat guests returning each season
