“The food is very good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

The food at St. Georg is very good. However our bedroom was of a very poor standard.
There was no carpet. It had not been decorated in decades. The furniture in the room was antique and hand painted. Thankfully, the en-suite had been upgraded.

Room Tip: The rooms are quiet. They do not have air conditioning..

The hotel St Georg is a cosy, family run hotel, a short uphill walk from the centre of Zell am See. The staff are all very helpful, friendly and speak English. The food is excellent and presented to a high standard. The option of having a free packed lunch is very useful, especially when out for a day walking or sight seeing around the amazing and very attractive Austrian countryside. Our bedroom was adequate, but would benefit from an upgrade, although it was always kept clean. I would definitely recommend paying for a room with balcony with partial views of the lake. We had a lovely week's holiday in Zell am See and this was helped by the warmth and rustic charm of the hotel St Georg.

We stayed at the hotel St Georg in Zell am see 0n the 28th August 2013.
The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. We were met with a warm reception. The hotel was in a good location, quiet, 3 mins walk to town, bars and cafes.
IT was very clean, Staff very friendly and they spoke good English: food and waiter service was excellent, Thay have a superb chef. You could have a packed lunch free of charge. Plenty of information on trips around the area including the weather forecast for the day.
The views from the top of "Schmittenhohe" were fantastic.
As from top of the "Kitzsteinhorn"and many other places around the area. Would we stay there again and definately recomend St Georg in Zell am see? Yes! If intending to travel around I would recomend purchasing a lift rail and bus ticket for the week.

Room Tip: We had a front room with a balcany with a view. "Good Choice"

We stayed for a week in June this year on the second leg of a 2 week Inghams package tour.

I had spent time in researching the hotel and had high hopes after reading previous reviews. Sadly I could not have been more disappointed with our choice and wished we had headed home instead.

Our room was spacious but very tired except for the bathroom which looked like it may have been recently renovated. The room looked out to a steep bank and unfortunately the weather being so terrible meant that the room was very dark. The room was kept very clean by the housekeeping staff and towels replenished even when not requested.

The spa facilities and swimming pool were also very tired and could do with refurbishing. As we had purchased a lift pass for the week which entitled us to use the local swimming pool and facilities so we chose to go there instead as it was state of the art.

The food was ok but uninspiring and some of the breakfast buffet items were not regularly replenished. When I asked as to the availability of bread for instance I was told there would be a 15 minute wait as more was being cooked. Ok perhaps I am being a bit unreasonable but if you say breakfast is served to a certain time I expect items to be readily available.

The bar area was ok and as the weather was so bad we spent most evenings there. The bar manager was very efficient and also helped with the evening food service in the restaurant.

I can see that this style of hotel would appeal to people of a certain age as it is not high tech and more old fashioned. I feel that the views given are not a true representation of what to expect so i wanted to add my opinions to the mix.

Sadly we would not choose to visit this hotel again.

Excellent hotel better than we thought possible-Staff friendly and very helpful--the personal touch of the owners and their attention to the needs of their guests was second to none. Food excellent with varied choice, overall as good a hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in.

just returned from a week at the brilliant St Georg hotel in Zell am See with my husband, and would definately recommend it. The elevated position above the town means if you have difficulty walking it probably isn't for you, but it is quiet and peaceful.
The rooms are a little tired, as are some of the furnishings and would benefit from a revamp, but the hotel is spotless and comfortable. There is no aircon, and the hotel is very warm, but you can sleep with the windows open with no problem
The food is excellent quality, a buffet breakfast and 5 courses for dinner (with a choice of 3 main courses). There is also the option of a packed lunched at no extra cost.
The staff are brilliant, they were polite, helpful and and very friendly. Also they all spoke excellent English.
We will definately return to this fantastic hotel

Room Tip: front rooms with a balcony are worth the extra money

One week early August. Family of 5 what a excellent experience. Traditionally family run hotel, all staff fantastic and helpful, food and service set the standard for all others to achieve. Hotel traditionally appointed which enhanced the experience. Would recommend for a very enjoyable experience..
