“good value in quiet part of town”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

in zell am see, it is difficult to find good and cheap accomodation in july as everybody goes to the mountain during the summer. landhaus gitti is a nice little guesthouse tucked in a quiet corner of this lakeside town. the room is tastefully renovated, comfortable bed, v. good breakfast, staff are friendly. i can hear the train in the distance, however, this does not affect quality of our sleep. this is more of a bed & breakfast establishment than a hotel. the hotel is a bit far from the town centre, 5 -10 minutes walk. we had problem finding the hotel. according to the google map, A10 from salzburg to 311, turn right at the roundabout.. but the first roundabout goes to bruck which is 5 min before zellam see,go thru mcdonald roundabout as we entered town, it is the third roundabout where we should turn right. as it was raining when we arrived, we decided to drive out for dinner. as weather is not good and getting dark, we didnt go to the lake

My wife and I stopped by at Landhaus Gitti for 2 days during our Motorcycle Tour of Europe.

The location is great! It is only a 10 min walk to the bicycle rental place which is a must. Tour around the lake was fantastic. Shopping places and restaurants are plenty around the hotel.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The place itself is absolute quality. Everything was very clean and the room amenities were complete. We had a mountain view which was great to sit in front of and just look :)

And finally, the BREAKFAST!!! Yummmmy

As we fell in love with Zell am See, we will visit again!

We absolutely loved staying at Landhaus Gitti. After a 6 week whirlwind holiday of Europe, we decided to head to Austria for some off-season skiing, and are so glad we chose Landhaus Gitti for our stay. Our hosts were amazing - served us spectacular all you can eat (and more!) breakfast of eggs, bread rolls, various meats, cereal, yoghurt - the list goes on! They gave us great advice about where to get our gear, how to catch the transport to the glacier, and were simply lovely every time we saw them. Our room was immaculately cleaned everyday, and they didnt even mind that we stashed food in there - even popping it outside in the snow so that it would stay at a good temperature. We originally were staying 3 days but extended this to 6 after receiving such a warm welcome (despite me having mucked up our booking - they were so welcoming & accommodating even though it was leading into the busy & stressful season). The only negative for our stay is that we were a week early for the season so had to pay for our bus up the glacier, however ended up meeting some lovely people on the mountain who drove us home anyway! Couldn't recommend this place more, was definitely our most enjoyable stay in Europe.

Landhaus Gitti will stay in my mind for a long time. Not for the clean, pleasant, and reasonable sized rooms. Not for the scenic location, nestling at the end of a long avenue under the imposing alpine peaks and not even for the wealth of tourist information leaflets and booklets provided. No, I will always remember Landhaus Gitti for the sheer friendliness of its husband and wife proprietors. From the minute we checked in we were personally greeted with a smile and throughout, we were treated with concern, respect and good humour. It is located in Schuttdorf, a small suburb of Zell Am See itself, which was a five minute drive away for us but we noticed that accommodation prices outside the town are sometimes dramatically lower than those advertised within it. So, OK, there were a couple of quibbles: the breakfast room is too small and sometimes we had to wait outside the room for a free table and the breakfast itself is a bit samey - cereal, cold meats, rolls and a hard boiled egg with tea, coffee or juice. Yet these are minor issues. It is a clean, well kept and warmly inviting little place that only enhances one's trip. The train line (mentioned in previous reviews) does indeed run close to the property, but the night trains are quite infrequent and when they do pass by they do not make an unreasonable amount of noise. Personally, I quite liked the sound of the trains chugging to faraway Vienna or Linz in the late evening! The whole building is a Wifi hotspot and a keycode is issued on check in should you wish to go online, but you will need your own laptop for this as there are no computer facilities or business room. The rooms are tastefully decorated and cosy sized, with balconies for those rooms on the ends of corridors. Recommended.

Rooms are a little dated but very clean. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff. Nice views looking up to the alps. Located in Schuttdorf, less than a five minute walk into the town center. To get into Zell am See you can catch a bus (once an hour) from the top of the street. Alternatively it is a short drive (about a E10 taxi ride).

I stayed here with friends whilst touring on motorcycles, we found the hosts exeptionally helpful, the rooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable, the breakfast was amazing and the valkue was excellent quality and quantity. I am returning in July 2010.
